(2 Corinthians 4:6) The light that shone in our hearts was the glorious knowledge of God. We can say the glory of God is the knowledge of God. God wants to be known, "for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9). Prepare is καταρτισμός ( katartismos ) to get ready, prepare or preparation, training, equipping. This preparation builds up the church, the body, unto maturity so that it is no longer children tossed to and fro in deceitful doctrines. The body grows up into the full measure of the image of Christ, "truth in love growing up in Him." The purpose of ministry is to grow up the body, and this growing up is in knowledge of the Son. Persuasiveness of the gospel comes not in eloquent words of men but from God. The definition of faith  includes firm persuasion, assurance, and firm proof. Therefore persuasiveness of the gospel is that which increases faith.
