we love because he first loved us (1 John 4:19)As a child of God, you are loved and endeared. The word endeared means "to cause to become beloved or admired." Endearing means to arouse feelings of affection and admiration. God loved us therefore we experientially know of his love. And he continues to endear us to cause us to become loved arousing feelings of affection and admiration.
so that to demonstrate to the ages to come the incomparable riches of his grace in kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For by grace, you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourself that gift of God (Ephesians 2:7-8)
Grace (charis) has gifts (Charimas) or effects.* Christ came in the fullness of the Father, of grace and truth. Grace abounds more and more.* What manner of love he shows us that he would adopt us and make us his children.* It is through this love we will grow up into fullness in him, as love is the bond that leads us there.* Our faith is energized by love. We are rooted and grounded in faith and love to have a proper foundation.* This foundation gives us the strength to endure and grasp an even greater love in Christ so that we are filled to a fullness in him.*
God was rich in mercy through his great love to make us alive together in Christ. Though we were dead in our sins he saved us, "grace existing saved and raised and seated us in the heavenlies with Christ Jesus. So to demonstrate to the ages to come the surpassing riches of his grace in kindness to us in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:5-7).
Grace has gifts. We can think of the gifts as the "riches of his grace." Now, Paul says "the surpassing riches of his grace." Surpassing means the riches of his grace overbound to us in kindness. Like grace abounds when sin increases, the gifts or effects of grace overabound, causing an effect. The effect of such grace and kindness is to endear, "to cause to become beloved or admired" thus arousing feelings of affection and admiration. Therefore, we love God because he first loved us.
Child of God, know that you are loved and endeared. God is endearing to his children, always wooing us to him through kindness to arouse feelings of love and affection.
