All Who Are Thirsty

Come, everyone who thirsts,
come to the waters;
and he who has no money,
come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food..." (Isaiah 55).

"Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price." Buy is defined as to acquire the ownership of by giving an accepted price or consideration therefore; to accept or believe as true.[1] When we buy something we consider the price that we must pay, we accept this and purchase the thing we have considered worthy of the sacrifice we make in payment. We can not buy, with money or price, redemption from this tragic flaw we are born into. However Jesus paid the price for us, so we buy or accept through consideration, the Greek word is logizomai.[2] We count the cost, we logically consider, we buy into it, we accept it as truth, worthy of our sacrifice. God's ways are not our ways, his thoughts not ours, as the rain nourishes the earth his word will not return void, it produces, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,v. 8-11.

Jesus Christ "purchased" our salvation by His works; this is the Gospel, the good news, through his birth, life, death, and resurrection we find redemption. He is God, the word of God, the bread of life, and the living water (John 1:1,14;6:35;7:37-39). "Come now, and let us reason together, saith Yahweh: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool" (Isaiah 1:18). Only in him will we find life; satisfaction for our souls. Why do we spend so much on things that do not bring life? "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding" (Proverbs 23:23). Oh Jesus you paid it all, you are good, savior, satisfier of our souls, what a worthy thing we have bought without money or price!

"Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal” (John 6:27).
