Holy One of God

"We have believed and have known that you are the Holy One of God."1

Peter makes this statement after Jesus had told them to labor for spiritual food, to eat his flesh and drink His blood. Jesus had healed many, "One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years."3 And He had did this on the Sabbath day, "And this was why the Jews were persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things on the Sabbath." Jesus responded to the religious leaders, "For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son, just as they honor the Father."4 Jesus establishes His authority and reaffirms he is Holy One of God.

"Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life."4 He is the Word of God, "Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming, and is now here, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live." His words bring dead people back to life, heal people, and have the authority by the Father to do His will. His will was that ALL who come to Jesus will not be lost. Salvation is to those who Come to Jesus. Who will come to Jesus? those that the Father grants, draws, they will come to Jesus and believe the Word, they will be granted eternal life, not from their own works, it is the work of the Father, a free gift.

Jesus is the Word of God who created all things in the beginning, His name is above all names, every knee will bow to him and every mouth will confess His name. Jesus is the Christ, the Holy One, Son of God, Son of Man, Lord, Master, Son of David, Lamb of God, New/Second/Last Adam, Light of the World, Bread of Life, Rabbi, King of Kings, King of the Jews, High Priest, and Teacher. Under the new covenant we reserve these titles and authority to Jesus, we are to give this authority to no man as the scriptures show and history tells, such corrupts man. Jesus has all such authority, "for one is your teacher, and all are your brethren." It is the Lamb who gave His blood, it is the Word and Spirit that gives life, He is the Lord we serve.

"The Father gave Jesus authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man."5 Jesus stated, "The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses seat."5" Jesus would take this authority away from man. No longer would man sit in the seat of judgement, dispensing God's laws to the people. Under the new covenant only Jesus has such authority. One head of the family, "one is your teacher, and all are your brethren." The people searched the scriptures because they thought the scriptures gave them eternal life; but the scripture bore witness of Jesus, even Moses spoke of Jesus, and here He is the Word of God before them but they refused to come to Him for life.7 The leaders of the day who sought to protect their kingdom, their position of authority, they labeled the Son of God as a lawless, drunkard, glutton, unclean, defiled person. I know this, as when you do His will, you will challenge doctrines of men, and they too will accuse you of lawlessness.

The people saw signs of Jesus; healing the sick and raising the dead, they ate of the miracle bread from heaven, and now miraculously he stands on the other side of the sea. But Jesus knows their hearts, they followed Him, made him lord, and wanted to make him king not because they believed in Jesus but because their bellies had been filled. Jesus said to them, He is the bread of life, eternal life, the scriptures speak of Him, it is not the scriptures that give life but the Word of God, whose name is Jesus. He has all authority from the Father, to deny his authority is to deny the Father's authority. Doing the will of the Father will bring persecution from the religious people today, because they break the commandments of God, as they do not understand the scriptures, they put life in the commandments, rules, traditions, and not in the person of God.

Jesus said His words were Spirit and Truth, true worshipers of God will worship in Spirit and Truth. Jesus mentions it is a spiritual food from heaven we must eat and drink, Paul writes "all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, all ate the same spiritual food, and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ."8 We see the same terminology used by Jesus, we are to labor into this spiritual food from heaven, flesh and blood we must consume for eternal life.

“For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."9 Jesus proclaims like Moses had lifted up the serpent, so the Father has lifted Him up, like Moses fed the people bread from heaven, so the Father has sent Jesus as this bread from heaven, if they would look unto Him, if they would eat of this bread it would give them life.

"All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace. In righteousness you will be established;" Jesus quotes old testament prophecy, He speaks of the new covenant of faith, "Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Incline your ear, and come to me; hear, that your soul may live; and I will make with you an everlasting covenant According to the faithful mercies shown to David."8

Believing is buying of bread of life and living water without cost. Jesus said he had come to do the will of the Father and that those who the Father gives, draws, grants, will come to Jesus, these will be saved, they will eat of the bread from heaven, they will drink of the living water. Who are those who believe? they are drawn to the Word of God, by the Father's Holy Spirit, these come to Jesus. They are those who are hungry and thirsty, they come to Jesus and buy without money, Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Praise God that the gift of salvation is not to be earned, it is a buying without money, it is a receiving of the free gift from heaven, Lord Jesus.

"Indeed in the heart is belief unto justification, in the mouth confession is made unto salvation."7 The heart of stone, tablet of law, is replaced with a heart of flesh, which represents the flesh of Christ, Word of God. This word for mouth is interesting and also means the edge of a sword, like the edge of a two edge sword of Spirit and Truth. This same word is used when referring to the Sword that comes out of the mouth of Jesus, in revelation where His name is Word of God that consumes all flesh. And this word for confession (from "together" and "speak to a conclusion") – properly, to voice the same conclusion. Together with this consummation of Word, belief in my heart, I speak to a conclusion. With this I am reminded that believing is truly the work of God, a supernatural God thing, His new covenant established within His children.

"If you confess with the mouth of you the Lord Jesus..."5 It is the name of Jesus that every knee shall bow to. This name has many titles. "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes." The righteousness based on faith doesn't say in our hearts who will bring Christ down or who will bring Christ up from the dead, but faith says “The Word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart... That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." This confession is in the name of Jesus, the Word of God, in my heart the Word of faith, Jesus, is proclaimed and this gives me a new heart and a new Spirit so that I am consumed by the Word of God. With this new heart I bow to His Lordship.

"Every tongue will confess Lord Jesus Christ."9 Notice the translation and the full title, Lord Jesus Christ we confess. We see in Revelation the twenty-four elders fall down before the One who sits on the throne, they cast their crowns at His feet saying, "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.” Our Lord and God, the Son of God, the full godhead in him, here His title is also Lamb of God, worthy is the Lamb who was slain.14 "Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God."14a

Jesus will come on a white horse, with a name none knows, "He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself. He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God."15 From his mouth comes a sharp sword, which Paul describes as the double edged sword of Spirit which is the Word of God. "On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords." This Word will consume all flesh.

"Come, gather for the great supper of God, to eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave, both small and great.” But surely not eating flesh, no, this word for eat also means to consume, all flesh will be consumed by the Word of God. "by the sword that came from the mouth of him."16 The birds will eat the flesh, John writes. This title of Word of God is given Jesus, and it is the same reasoning as when Jesus said you must eat my flesh, you must consume His Word, or His Word consumes you. When Jesus said this "Many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him." It was not granted to them by the Father, they sought an earthly lord and king, and they labored for that which filled their bellies, not for the Word of eternal life.

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead is living within us, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Liberty. Paul writes when we believe we are sealed with the Holy Spirit, we are circumcised of the heart, the heart of stone representing the Law, stone of tablets, is replaced, so we no longer live by the letter of the Law but by the Spirit of God that is within us. When I heard the gospel, the truth, the Word, the Holy Spirit drew me to the Son and I was saved. At the core of legalism is the notion that I must do something for my salvation. It is very deceiving as there is always some truth in it, usually old covenant related scriptures. Paul writes these are legalistic doctrines of demons, and that Grace and Truth is the safe guard of such doctrines. These seek to subjugate, control, manipulate, bring back into bondage and eventually destroy the people of God.

If Jesus came in fullness of the Father And this fullness is Grace and Truth and Jesus is the exact image of the Father then the Father is in fullness of Grace and Truth. Grace and Truth are inseparable, to not teach Grace is to not teach Truth as it is Jesus, the fullness of God. The new covenant establishes such authority in Christ, sealed by God, in such we have bold access to the throne of Grace because of faith in Jesus. The Holy Spirit teaches us all things and Jesus gives not authority but "gifts" to men to edify the Church, the body of Christ which He is head. Jesus had performed signs and miracles, raising people from the dead, feeding five thousand, crossing the sea without a boat, these things the people saw or heard of but still did not believe. Jesus said they sought him for other reasons, "because you ate of the loaves and were filled."3 He tells them to work for food enduring unto eternal life.

"It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by God.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me."7 This new covenant is established within us, we are sealed by the Spirit when we believe. Here we see it as the seal of the Father on Jesus. "Work not for the food perishing but for the food enduring unto eternal life which the Son of man will give, indeed the Father has sealed, even God."1 The Father put the seal on the Son, and by His death a will was given that brought in a new covenant, established on the blood of Jesus, established in our hearts, sprinkled on our hearts, as Paul writes, like the articles of worship that Moses sprinkled blood on. The Father sealed the Son, and He seals us as a guarantee of the inheritance. "In whom you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after you believed, you were sealed with that Holy Spirit of promise,"2

Jesus is the author of faith, and this believing has two parts, "whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life."10 It is eating this bread from heaven, this Word of God that gives eternal life. If you are to work for food that endures to eternal life and the work is of God and that work is believing in Jesus and the Son of Man gives life then believing is the work of God which gives eternal life. It truly is a free gift, not of works lest any man should boast. "The bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." Some do not understand such a gift, it must have a cost they say, How can I  buy bread for free? But this food from heaven is without money and without price.

One part flesh, and one part blood, this blood is living water, the Rock. "It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life."11 It is by the Spirit God draws men, "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him."12 No one can come to Jesus unless it is granted to him by the Father.14 "For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him."12 Whoever comes to Jesus (all that the Father gives Jesus will come to Him, No one can come to Jesus unless the Father draws him, granted him by the Father) shall not hunger, whoever believes in Jesus (eats the manna from  heaven, looks on the Son) shall never thirst.

So we see it is spiritual food from heaven, the bread/flesh/Word of God and the blood/water/Spirit of God that brings salvation. The same way we come to Christ is the same way we walk in Him, by faith. Truth and Spirit. If you abide in the truth then the truth will set free, if you abide in the vine, you will bear fruit. If we consume the bread of heaven and the living water we will have abundant life. These principles of lordship and sacrifice are important in following Christ. But my salvation rests in the Word of God and the Spirit of God, by faith and by the sealing of His Spirit within. Those outside Christianity who say they believe in the God of Abraham will be fine with me being a follower of Jesus, as Lord, Teacher, Master, and as Prophet but if I equate Him to the Holy One of God, the Son of God, the Word of God then we have issues. But it is these very titles, names, and authority that brings salvation.

As prophesied of, God would write His laws on our hearts, it is a sealing of the heart, as Paul writes this believing in the heart will produce a confession from the mouth that Jesus is Lord. He is Lord of Lords but even more, He is truly the meaning of the Holy One, the Word of God who created all things in the beginning, the Son of God, the name of Jesus which expresses His divinity. At the name of the Holy One of God, the demons cry out, "I know who you are—the Holy One of God!"15  It is consuming Word, this bread from heaven, Word of eternal life, as Peter said, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.” For I believe in the name of Jesus, Lord, Savior, worthy is the Lamb, Son of God. Holy One.

Blessed Are The Forgiven

Blessed! the one whose lawless deeds are forgiven and the one whose sins are covered over, blessed is the man whom sin, the Lord will not consider . * Paul writes David foresaw and spoke " blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered . *  Blessed, is the one whom sin is not considered, this word considered  means "to credit, count, reckon, to set down as a matter of account; regard, think, consider." This blessing comes through faith and according to grace, " also David speaks of the blessedness of the one to whom God considers righteousness apart from works ." *  The word for  lawless deeds speaks of the violation of the Law and the word for sin  speaks of missing the mark of God's righteousness. Blessed are those who (by faith in Christ according to grace) have been forgiven. In Him receiving the redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of trespasses according to the riches of His grace . * This fundamental ...

Spirit of Life

" Indeed, the law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus liberates from the law of sin and death ." 1 This word for liberates "I free, set free, liberate" is from a root word meaning free, exempt, not bound by an obligation. As partakers of God's divine nature, being born of Spirit, we are no longer obligated to the sinful nature but to righteousness which is God's nature. When we believe we receive the Spirit of promise, a guarantee of our inheritance, a great testimony that we are His children, it is a Spirit of Life. " Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life." 24 The Son came not to condemn the world but to save it. "One trespass   led to condemnation for all men, so one act of righteousness leads to justification and life for all men. " 6 " He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and wa...

All Who Are Thirsty

“ Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;  and he who has no money,  come, buy and eat!  Come, buy wine and milk  without money and without price.  Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,  and your labor for that which does not satisfy?  Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,  and delight yourselves in rich food. .." (Isaiah 55). " Come, buy wine and milk without money and without price ." Buy is defined as to acquire the ownership of by giving an accepted price or consideration therefore; to accept or believe as true .[ 1 ] When we buy something we consider the price that we must pay, we accept this and purchase the thing we have considered worthy of the sacrifice we make in payment. W e can not buy, with money or price, redemption from t his tragic flaw we are born into. However Jesus paid the price for us, so we buy or accept through consideration, the Greek word is  logizomai.[ 2] ...

The Tripartite Nature of Humanity: Spirit, Soul, and Body

The Tripartite Nature of Humanity: Spirit, Soul, and Body in Biblical Understanding The human being, as depicted in the Bible, is a multifaceted creation, often understood through the distinct yet interconnected components of spirit, soul, and body. While some theological perspectives lean towards a bipartite view (soul and body), which we do see in the Old Testament, a careful examination of the New Testament scripture reveals a compelling case for a tripartite understanding, where each is divided into or composed of three parts. Let’s explore the biblical distinction between spirit, soul, and body. The Body: Our Earthly Vessel The body is the physical form that interacts with the material world. From the very beginning, Genesis 2:7 states, " Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being ." This verse clearly establishes the body's origin from the earth, emphasizing its connec...

Lord, Stand By Me

"... present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness ." 1 This word for present means "I bring, present, come up to and stand by," it is parístēmi (from pará, "from close-beside" and hístēmi, "to stand") – properly, stand close beside, i.e. ready to present (exhibit). I pray Lord stand by me which expresses that I put my trust in Him, or I come up to and stand by Him. We use phrases like surrendering or bowing at the cross to explain such a moment, surely it is a coming to the end of ourselves and it is desirable that I find His will acceptable, but it is important to understand that it is about trust, not my will power, the key is that it is in Christ. The terminology the scriptures use is "present yourselves to God," or come up to and stand by and walk with Him. "... present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this...

Surrender and Giving Control in Christian Thought: Scriptural Roots, Modern Interpretations, and the Quest for Spiritual Maturity

Surrender and Giving Control in Christian Thought: Scriptural Roots, Modern Interpretations, and the Quest for Spiritual Maturity Introduction The theological concept of surrender—or giving control to God—occupies a prominent place in the modern Christian consciousness. From pulpits, in devotional material, songs, and across a multitude of Christian traditions, believers are often exhorted to “surrender their lives to Christ,” to “give up control." This is often expressed as a “come to the end of yourselves,” experience. These exhortations, frequently couched in emotive and urgent language, invite believers to a posture of yielding, releasing, and letting go. Yet, when this language is measured against the actual vocabulary, teachings, and emphases of the Greek New Testament, important questions emerge:  How biblically grounded are the concepts of “surrender” and “giving control”? Does such language reflect the spiritual vision of the earliest Christian church and scripture, or...

Freedom from the Mosaic Law: A Deep Theological Exploration of New Testament Teaching

Freedom from the Mosaic Law: A Deep Theological Exploration of New Testament Teaching Introduction: The Question of the Mosaic Law and Christian Identity One of the most significant theological debates and practical challenges for the early church was the place of the Mosaic Law in the life of believers in Jesus Christ. This question remains alive today, particularly in communities and churches that quote the Old Testament as if its legal prescriptions still directly obligate Christians. The apostolic writings, especially those of Paul, provide the primary lens through which the New Testament resolves this matter. Paul’s letters—rich in both theological reflection and ecclesiastical urgency—not only confront false teaching but chart the path of new covenant living by the Holy Spirit.  This essay seeks to offer a doctrinal synthesis on why believers are no longer “under the Mosaic Law,” supported by original-language insights, harmonized scripture references, and commentar...

Theological Comparison of the New Covenant of Grace and the Old Covenant of the Law

Theological Comparison of the New Covenant of Grace and the Old Covenant of the Law: A Detailed Study Rooted in Ephesians 2:11–22 Introduction The theme of covenant is central to the biblical narrative, shaping God’s relationship with humanity from creation through redemption. The new covenant is called by Paul a ministry of reconciliation, righteousness, and of the Spirit. The shift from the old Mosaic covenant—rooted in the Law given to Israel at Sinai—to the new covenant of grace established in Christ, fundamentally redefines how people approach God, community, and salvation. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, particularly 2:11–22, provides a remarkably clear and rich theological exposition of this transition, addressing not only the spiritual implications for Jews and Gentiles but also the very nature of the church as God’s new creation. This report develops an in-depth, paragraph-driven theological comparison between the old and new covenants, structured around nine key themes de...

Called According to His Purpose: A Biblical Examination

Called According to His Purpose: A Biblical Examination 📖 Introduction The phrase “called according to His purpose” appears in Romans 8:28 (ESV), a foundational verse that reads: “And we know that for those loved of God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to His purpose.” This statement gives comfort and more—it is a declaration about identity, destiny, and divine intent. To be “called according to His purpose” means participating in God’s sovereign, redemptive plan. God's plan is being manifested through the church through the "new covenant in his blood" as it was established by the death of Jesus. The calling is not arbitrary or based on human merit, but is rooted in God’s purpose, eternal will and love. 🔍 The Nature of the Calling In Scripture, God's calling is effectual—that is, it accomplishes what He intends. Paul writes: "...those whom he predestined he also called, and those whom he called he also justified,...
