In the old covenant the place of propitiation (a sin offering, a covering) was the the mercy-seat where the blood of a vicarious lamb appeased God's wrath, on unrighteousness.2 In the new, God set forth Jesus as a propitiation through faith, he is its' author and brings about the righteosuness of God within us, Now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested.3 This implies there was a righteousness by the law but now it is being manifested apart from the law, in Jesus Christ.4 The law and the prophets borne witness to this righteousness, the law pointed to this redemption of man.5
Christ appeared as a high priest, he came into being, gÃnomai, which means to emerge, become, transitioning from one point to another. He came into being of the good of God. This good, agathós, describes what originates from God and is empowered by Him in our life. By the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made by hands, not of this creation, nor by the blood of goats and calves but through his own blood he entered once and for all into the holy place having obtained eternal redemption.6
Jesus is the mediator of this new covenant, this New Testament of Jesus Christ where his death has taken the place, paid the price, brought redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant.7 The promise takes hold of those having been called of the eternal inheritance. This covenant is like a will, where there is a will there must be a death, His death established a new covenant of God with man.8 A will is not in force while one is living but after the death of him would a will be established, neither the first apart from the blood has consecrated or made new. The blood purifies and apart from the blood being shed, there is not forgiveness of sin.9
This redemption is for the whole world, only Jesus has been deemed worthy to open the seals. In this great tribulation we must do our part to overcome, it is His blood, the Lamb of God, and the testimony of those who loved not their lives. There is a remnant sealed from Israel, twelve thousand from each tribe. Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation.19 Yes, He will shepherd those who come out of the great tribulation, who washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb, he will lead them to living waters.
God sent forth his son, born by flesh, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that they might receive adoption as sons, and he sent forth his spirit into our hearts crying Abba! Father!20 We have been adopted into his family, oh do we, like orphaned children, need the redemptive love of such a family. We are free from the elemental principles of the world; do not taste, do not touch... Did you receive the spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? Why having begun by the spirit are you trying to be perfected by the flesh?
We belong to Christ, and no other has ownership rights, surely not man.21 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace.22 He didn't come as an earthly king or lord, to be served but he came to serve as a ransom for many.24 It was his doing that makes us righteous, out of him moreover, you are in Christ Jesus who has been made wisdom unto us from God, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption.25 He is the first fruit.
While being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.27
Clearly Jesus is our source of righteousness. He is the source of God's Grace, For of the fullness of him have we all received, moreover grace upon grace.10 He is the author and perfecter of Faith.6 It is his obedience to the Father's work.11 That brings about the atonement of our sins, the redemption of our souls.12 Redemption, a buying back, re-purchasing of what was previously lost.12a He gave himself to redeem us from every lawless deed and to purify for himself a people for his own possession, zealous for good deeds.12bChrist redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, hanging on a tree.13 With his blood he purchased a people, His Church, His temple now within us, a sacred thing.14 God in his eyes valued us so much that he paid such a price; we are a valued possession.15 When we know our value in him, our identity, we give Him all the glory, in body and spirit. He redeemed us from a life that was without purpose, aim, and abundant life.16 This redemption was at a high price, not by perishable things like gold or silver, but by the precious blood of the Lamb.17 Jesus lived without blemish, and without spot, He was perfect, undefiled, and unmarred by sin, he became redemption, the righteousness of God, a man fully acceptable by God's standard of righteousness. This was foreknown by God before the foundations of the world.18

Let us also go, that we may die with him...28 This is the cup of the new covenant, for this is My blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for forgiveness of sins.29 He asks us to drink from this cup, drink from it, all of you... we must too drink from the cup of the new covenant, we must participate in the suffering, in the payment of sin. We too must die, the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. Will you die for him? Dying for him is living, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.30
