Storing Up Life

In my heart I have hidden your word that I might not sin against you (Psalm 119:11)

One of the weapons of our warfare is the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God. Jesus said my words are spirit and truth. One way we can weaponize this sword so that we can stand on the evil day is by hiding the word of God in our hearts.

The Hebrew word hide implies to treasure up or store up. Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Your word is life and the ones that touched, heard, and held, the word of life whose words were eternal life proclaims to us the word of life so that we too may experience life, fellowship, and joy.

The words of Jesus exist as living bread and we not only eat this living bread to receive life but we feed on it as a daily bread, a continual source of life. If we sow into the Spirit the word of God we have a harvest of life and peace. The word of God, the vine we abide in so that we might bear fruit of life. So to abide in the words of life is to continually eat of his word that exists eternal life. And to do this we must store it up.

There are desert times, times when spiritual warfare is at its worst. So we are to store up the words of life and bring them out and eat them for life. Many times I have revelation that God shows me and I write of such things and I am filled with words of life. But often afterward the energy and life I feel drains away and I am left in weakness in which the enemy moves in to attack. God has shown me to store up the treasure of God's word in my heart. Because I put food in the storehouse I can bring it out and feed on it during times of drought. This is my word for today, to store up God's word in my heart so that we might not sin against him.
