Weapons for War

God cares for me. The devil cares nothing about me! 

The devil is a liar, a deceiver, and a murderer.

  • "He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (Matthew 8:44)
  • "Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8)
  • "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep..." (Matthew 10:9-10)
The devil uses fleshly desires against me, so that I become captive to sin and go against my new nature, that which was created new in the image of God. The devil's ultimate goal, now that I am a child of God, is that I do not glorify God in this body. That I do not grow up (Ephesians 4:13-15). Because if I do not act like Jesus, look like him, walk like him but act like the world then God is not glorified in his child, no one will see Jesus in me.
  • "Now if I do what I do not want, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells within me. So I find it to be a law that when I want to do right, evil lies close at hand. For I delight in the law of God, in my inner being, but I see in my members another law waging war against the law of my mind and making me captive to the law of sin that dwells in my members" (Romans 7:21-23)
  • "For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do" ( Galatians 5:17)
  • "Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul" (1 Peter 2:11)

God cares for me. I am loved, protected, and called to eternal glory.
  • "no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand" (Matthew 10:28-29)
  • "I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand" (Matthew 10:28)
  • "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you" (1 Peter 5:10)
  • "Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:6-7)
  • "In this the love of God was made known among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him" (1 John 4:9)
  • "For this is how God loved the world; he gave his only Son, so that all who believe in him should not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). This is the answer to "how can a loving God send anyone to hell?" He sent his Son so that no one should perish.

"blessed the God and Father of our Lord Jesus who has blessed us in all spiritual blessings in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 1:3)

  • I am chosen in love (Ephesians 1:4)
  • I am adopted as His own (Ephesians 1:5) sealed with the Holy Spirit until the redemption of our bodies, in which we await salvation, when God takes possession of His own (Ephesians 1:13-14; Romans 8:23-24). In this the Spirit testifies, of adoption, bearing witness that we are His own (Romans 8:15-17).
  • I am favored in the beloved. (Ephesians 1:6) 
  • I am redeemed, forgiven (Ephesians 1:7)
  • I was dead but now I am alive (Ephesians 2:3-6)
"And we know that for those loved of God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28)

The New Living Way

The New Living Way "... Now, at the present released from the Law, having died in that which held us captive, so that we serve in newness of Spirit and not the old written code " -- Romans 7:16 Paul states that we are now united to Christ in his death and also raised with him into newness of life. What held them captive was sin but also the Law, it was a guardian until the appointed time God would send a Messiah (see School Master ). Paul uses the metaphor of marriage to describe how we are released from the Law; like a wife whose husband dies, now she is released from the Law and can marry another, so also have we died with Christ and are released from the Law and bound to Christ in a new covenant. Lord, Stand By Me

"... present yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life, and your members to God as instruments for righteousness ." 1 This word for present means "I bring, present, come up to and stand by," it is parístēmi (from pará, "from close-beside" and hístēmi, "to stand") – properly, stand close beside, i.e. ready to present (exhibit). I pray Lord stand by me which expresses that I put my trust in Him, or I come up to and stand by Him. We use phrases like surrendering or bowing at the cross to explain such a moment, surely it is a coming to the end of ourselves and it is desirable that I find His will acceptable, but it is important to understand that it is about trust, not my will power, the key is that it is in Christ.
