See what g toreat love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!.. (1 John 3:1)
We are blessed to have a heavenly Father who loves us. This is why God sent His Son that we might be blessed in him. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one blessing us in all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ..." (Ephesians 1:3). God chose us, in love (Ephesians 1:4). He predestined us for adoption in Christ, in love, sealed with the Spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance as sons, "the Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:15-16). We experience this love as the Spirit pours out God's love into our hearts. We are blessed to be loved, "what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!"
"to the extent of the praise of His glory, the grace which he highly favored us in the Beloved" (Ephesians 1:6).
Along with the blessings of adoption, redemption, the forgiveness of sins, we are highly favored, God extends his love toward us through Jesus, who was the glory of the Father who came and dwelt among men, full of grace and truth (John 1:14, 17). This extension of God's love to us is amazing in and of itself. To know experiential of our heavenly Father's love is to be blessed, to know the deep love of Christ that has no bounds, that surpasses knowledge. Think about this love, can we in this human frailty completely understand such love and will we one day be able to grasp it fully? Certainly Paul prays that our Father grants us to be established in faith and love so to lay hold of a deeper love of God. We can truly say we are blessed, to be loved and called children of God.
