You are my son, in you, I delight.*
This was the Father speaking to Jesus, the Son* But doesn't our heavenly Father speak to us as sons and daughters? Yes, there is a word that speaks to us, that calls upon us as sons. In regards to this calling, the discipline of God brings about maturity. Our call to holiness is accomplished through growth which matures us from children to sons. This is that purposed in Christ, so those called are being conformed to His image. The Father loves the children, he is delighted, well pleased that they grow up to bear fruit of righteousness, becoming like him, like his divine nature.
Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.*
Delight is defined as a high degree of gratification or pleasure: joy; extreme satisfaction.* What more desire of the heart is needed if you have joy and satisfaction? Also, delight means pleasure so we see the translation of delight is often as pleased, “you are my son, in whom I am well pleased."* Can I find delight and pleasure in God? And how can he delight in me? Let us look at how we can and how the Father delights in us. When we are chosen, adopted, heaven rejoices, when a lost sheep is found, joy over one sinner who repents than ninety-nine righteous who need no repentance.* And there is more delight, as Jesus said the Father is glorified in that we bear fruit or mature. It pleased God to bruise Christ so to chose us in him, blessing us with adoption, redemption, the forgiveness of sin. While righteousness is received as a gift through faith, holiness can be said as bearing the fruit of righteousness, thus God's delight increases in our maturity, in our seeking righteousness. In our pursuit of holiness our Father delights.
The word glorified means to think, suppose, judge; to extol, magnify; in NT to adore; to signalize with a manifestation of dignity, excellence. Webster defines it as to make glorious by bestowing honor, praise, or admiration. Our Father bestows great honor on the Saints, who are fathers in maturity. The discipline of God brings about maturity, so that we share in His holy character, producing the fruit of being like Him, of righteousness.* The parable of sowing speaks of growth that God delights in, of bearing fruit some thirty, some sixty, some hundredfold.* So we see the delight of the Father increases as we mature, as we grow up in the knowledge of the Son and become more like him. God delights in his children and magnifies his delight in sons and daughters.
I am writing to you, fathers, because you know the one from the beginning...*
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied."* Those who pursue righteousness will be satisfied. The definition of delight is satisfaction, therefore, the blessing of those who seek first His righteousness is to be filled, satisfied, or find delight in Him and to be delighted in by Him.* We can find delight in his presence, "you make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand."* For our Father to delight in us is to hear him say, “in you, I delight" and "in you, I am well pleased." Such delight is reciprocating, He delights in us and we can delight, find satisfaction, and be pleased in him. When we find delight in him we can say, in you my Father my soul delights, and in you, I am well pleased. We can find delight in Him like David who said, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God."*

My Father is glorified in this, that you bear much fruit, and become my disciples.*
What does knowing Jesus as a father mean? A father is one who has grown up into maturity, which implies a deeper level of knowing Jesus. A child knows the Father and that his sins are forgiven, having the testimony of the Spirit and blood. But a father knows Jesus at a deeper level of walk, signifying a sharing in holiness or godliness which is bearing, yielding, or practicing the truth. Someone who says I know Jesus, or implies they are a father in maturity, but doesn't walk like Jesus, reflecting his character, keeping His words, is a liar, not walking in the truth.* There is a greater delight, joy from God as we mature, "if keeping my commands, abiding in my love, just as I keep my Father’s commands and abide in his love."* This deeper delight encourages His children to delight in knowing him more.
Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the LORD, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”*
