Sharing in Suffering

beloved, do not be surprised that a trial of fire is taking place among you, like as something strange happening to you. Rather rejoice insofar as sharing of the suffering of Christ so that his glory is revealed also rejoice and be glad.*

Christians, those called to become like as Christ, should not consider suffering as something strange, but rejoice as we share of his suffering, we also share of his glory. Peter writes as a witness to the sufferings of Christ and partaker of Christ's suffering, he is a partakers of the glory about to be revealed.* This revealing of glory will be complete in the last day, but we are partaking of this glory now, being transformed from glory to glory into the image of His son. Paul, writes to know Jesus is to know of His suffering, and he carries around death every day so that others may experience his life. We are called to suffer so that we partake of his glory.

for to this extent called, because Christ also suffered on your behalf, leaving behind your example so that you follow in his footsteps.*

Do not think it strange that a trial is taking place, you are called to Christ's suffering. To follow Jesus, in the footsteps of Jesus, is to experience suffering. And why must we partake of His suffering? Jesus left us an example, being like as a man, "himself bore that our sin in that his body on a tree so that living, dead to sin, living to righteousness, the one whose wounds heal."* Could it be through the suffering comes healing? James writes to consider it joy when we encounter suffering, knowing that the proving produces endurance and the work of endurance produces maturity, a wholeness, a lacking in nothing.* Yes, endure the suffering, there is a purpose within it.

take my yoke upon you and learn from me because I am gentle and lowly of heart, also you will find rest for your souls.*

Jesus doesn't lord and exercise authority over men, he came as an example of a shepherd, and the greatest in His kingdom exist servants of all. He suffered, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. If we claim to abide in Him, we must walk as Jesus walked.* Now, the suffering has a purpose, which is related to the that God purposed in Christ, that we partake of His glory, existing holy and in His presence in love. And God is working out all things for the good of those he has called according to His purpose, to be conformed to the image of His Son.* And this is the will of God being manifested in the Church, that we grow up in knowledge of Jesus, into maturity, into the full stature of His image.* As we look into His unveil face, shown the glory of the Lord, we are being transformed form glory to glory.*

And the God of grace, the one calling you into His eternal glory in Christ, after suffering for a while, himself restores, confirms, strengthens, establishing you.*

How can we be joyful in the suffering? because eternal glory is being revealed in us. Christ is the hope of glory. God is shaking the things that can be shaken so that what is left is a kingdom that can't be shaken. This is a Church that is established and founded in Christ, one that is not shaken by the storms of this life. So we pray that God will give us a spit of revelation in knowledge of the Son, that we might grow up to complete adulthood, so to comprehend the hope of our calling, and the glorious inheritance we have among the saints. Rejoice, to this you have been called.
