Pure In Heart

Blessed are the pure in heart because they see God.*

The word see ὁράω (horaō) meaning to see, look upon, experience, perceive, discern. It speaks not of the future tense thus the pure in heart are blessed not because they will see God in the future but they see him now. How can one see God? God can not be seen, he exists invisible to the eye, like his Spirit, which in regards to this is like the wind which you know is there but can not see. The word pure is καθαρός (katharos) meaning to make clean, cleanse, purify. Blessed are the pure because they see God, such speaks of knowing God through growth, which is in knowledge of Jesus, the outcome of is life and holiness, purity.

faith perceives the universe was created by the word of God, to the extent that seen not becoming of that observable.*

Faith exists evidence of things unseen.* Jesus is the author of faith. He exists the radiance of his glory and represents the nature of God.* Jesus reflects God's divine character, nature, image. Therefore to know Jesus is to know God. Through Jesus, the word of God, all things that were created were brought into existence.* By the word of his power comes forth all, and he came to make purification for sin.* Jesus came to make purification for sin, the lamb of God that removes sin.* The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin.* Paul taught first, that Christ died for our sins.* So we see the forgiveness of sin but also Jesus came to remove sin, to purify.* There was no sin in him, and the sinful, neither sees him or know him."* Seeing him is knowing him or growing up in knowledge of him.

not all the ones abiding in him, sinful, not all the ones sinful sees him or knows him.*

We see the word for sinful, ἁμαρτάνω (hamartanō) which is usually just translated as sin, hamartia but notice anō which means up, up to the brim. If we take the idea of sin and growth  appling full to the brim or the concept of being ripe in sin then we have a good definition of hamartanō, sinful, fully sinful, or fully ripe in sin. We see the concept of ripe in a good way, in perfection, maturity, the fullness in Christ, where one grows up bearing good fruit. And we see the negative use, fully grown in sin, ripe. And we see there is a great harvest of the sinful in the end of times, these ripe are harvested and poured into the wine press of God's wrath.* Jude writes of these sinful people in the church.* Peter writes of these false ministers, fully ripened, boastful even as they live lasciviously, they blaspheme the way of truth, promising freedom while themselves are enslaved, in their greed (they want your money) they fabricate stories exploiting the weak in faith.* It would be better if they had never known the truth, like a pig after washing itself then returning to the mire.*

now, already you exist pure through the words which I spoke to you.*

Jesus said that if we abide in Him, in his words, we will bear fruit and any branch not abiding is cut off.  So we see the concept those who go out from among those who abide in truth, are no longer of us. We should shame such brothers so they repent, not associating with them, not being apart. The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all sin but also we see another cleansing, a purifying of the word. Christ loved the church and gave himself for her, so that he sanctifies her, purifying her, the washing of water through the word.* The word purify καθαρίζω, katharizō, means to make pure, καθαρός katharos. The concept of purity is much like the concept of righteousness, we are made righteous in Christ but those born of God with the seed of righteousness in them will grow up to bear fruit of righteousness. God puts his Spirit within us and gives us a new heart, we are cleansed but we must sanctify, purify ourselves in his word.

not from works of righteousness which we do but according to his mercy saving us through the washing, a new birth, and renewal of the Spirit.*

What counts is being a new creation. The Pharisees washed the outside while the inside was dirty. It is not what goes in that defiles a person but what comes from within.* The child has testimony of Spirit and blood and the young person is strong as the word of God abides in them and the mature exist pure through his words, knowing him from the beginning. I believe purification of the body of sin is the testimony of water, not like washing of dirt from the body but a profession of a pure conscious towards God. It is related to our soul salvation. And if confession ὁμολογέω (from homo "the same, together" and lego "word") speaks of not just saying words but being in agreement, walking, then this testimony of purity is what differentiates, outwardly, the wheat from the tare. Who can I be in agreement with God's word, if I do not obey it? Who can obey God's word? Who can bear fruit? If we grow up in his words and purification is in his words and confession is of the same word or agreeing in word then confession is agreement with it, this is maturity and perfection in Christ, living a pure life, unstained from the world.

Pure religion and undefiled before God also the Father exists this; visit orphans and widows in their time of affliction, keeping oneself unstained from the world.*

Pure religion is one that purifies, his workmanship prepared beforehand, the outcome is good works. Growth is not about just doing, it is about becoming like Jesus. The discipline of God is not that we are just obedient or do not sin but that we share in His character, the outcome is purity. It doesn't matter what good work I do, I can help orphans but if I am not pure, I am not blessed with seeing God, fully knowing God. I grow up in knowledge of the Son, and through the Son I know God the Father thus I see God through the Son. When we walk in darkness we are defiled. If we confess our sins and walk in the light he is faithful and just to cleanse us from all sin. The washing of the word in purification is in regards to the purification of our bodies from sin, in regards to salvation of our soul. Peter writes there is a sanctification of our souls in obedience in the truth to the extent there is a sincere brotherly love from a pure heart.* When we as children of God walk in sin, we are defiled and can be overpowered by evil forces of darkness. This is a wretched state, to delight inwardly but not having the ability to overcome. But there is hope, a purification is his words.

And all the ones having this hope in him, sanctify themselves just as he existed sanctified.*

The word sanctify ἁγνίζω (hagnizō) means to make pure, to purify, cleanse away.* Jesus prayed for the disciples and those who would believe through them so that they be sanctified or made holy or consecrated through his words.*  Jesus was in a sinful body but did not sin, he consecrated himself in truth just like we need to be.* We don't know what we will be like fully sanctified but we will exist like him and those who have such hope and calling purify themselves just as he is pure. The one in whom the seed of God is planted, he will grow up to bear fruit of purity. It is our calling, his destiny to become holy as he is holy. Jesus came to bear our sin, not condemning man but sin in the flesh, the one who is condemned and without hope is the one not believing. He also came to do away with sin, to consecrate a holy and pure people, of His own, of all nations and peoples who receive the promised blessings through Jesus. For the child it is a great blessing to know in Jesus he is adopted, redeemed and forgiven.

now when perfection comes the partial will be set aside, when I was a child talking like a child, thinking like a child, reasoning like a child. When I became a man I set aside the child. For at the present we are looking through a mirror in an enigma. Now then face to face at the present knowing from part then I will know fully just as also known.*

Perfection is maturity, growing up in knowledge of Jesus. Perfection also includes purity and sanctification. As I grow up I know Him more, closer to the love of God being fulfilled in me. No longer is it partial nor an enigma, puzzlingly, but it is becoming clear, and I know more of who I am, setting aside the child to become mature. It is not that perfection will be fully accomplished here on earth but we strive for it as it is our calling to run this race, to be pure like he is pure. Like Paul let us count all things as loss in order to know Christ. To have fellowship in the Son is also to have fellowship with Father. To grow up in knowledge of Jesus is to have knowledge of the Father and see the Father and to be fully known. It is a blessing in Christ to be pure so to see God the Father. Blessed are the pure in heart because they see God.
