Sow To The Spirit

Not led astray, God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows that also reaps. For the one sowing to his own flesh from the flesh reaps corruption. Now, the one sowing to the Spirit, from the Spirit reaps eternal life.*

The concept of reaping in the scriptures is related to the parable of sowing, in which the word of God is sowed, growing deep roots, then sprouting up through the weeds to bear fruit of thirty, sixty, and hundredfold. This is the process of growth in which we enter our reasonable service, unto holiness.* Unto holiness means we are being consecrated, set apart, transformed into the image of Christ, thus the fruit we get leads us into sanctification, and its outcome is Life.* The anointing that abides in us teaches us to abide in the words of Jesus.* As in the words of Jesus we are being sanctified, and the words of Jesus exist the Words of Life, Eternal Life.* The Spirit is raising us into newness of Life, putting to death the deeds of the flesh. The question becomes what is my part? What must I do to sow to the Spirit? Or what must I do to not be led astray but to be led by the Spirit?

Not led astray, God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows that also reaps...

This word for "led astray" means to lead astray, cause to wander, deceive. It is usually translated as deceived and truly if you are led astray you are deceived but we relate it here to the Spirit leading you. In this there is a Spirit of truth and of error. "but the anointing you received from him abides in you and you have no need that any teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and exists true and not a lie, also just as teaching you, abide in Him."* The Holy Spirit doesn't work on its own, but teaches us as John writes to abide in him, Jesus the Word of Life.

...God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows that also reaps.

The word for mocked means deride, like turning up your nose. This speaks of humility, not a humility of false piety and religion but that of someone being led by the Spirit. In this we have new light into this verse, "humble yourselves before God and he will raise you up."* What does this mean "will raise you up?" It is talking about the Spirit "raising you up" into newness of life. Serving and sacrificing doesn't perfect us, neither living to the law nor principles destined to perish but there is the concept of sowing into the Spirit. The double edged sword is of Spirit and Truth, that divides and discerns our inner most being. Humble yourselves and the Spirit will led you. The fruit you get leads you into sanctification.*

For those led by the Spirit of God, these exist the sons of God.*

The word led (ἄγω (agō)) means to lead. bring along; to carry off; to guide, command; to draw out; to hold; to weigh. In the scriptures the word led is of the concept of growth with its meaning being to bring forth, as the parable of sowing states. The Spirit brings forth the child of God, he will not continue to live to his old nature but will bring forth fruit of his new nature, spiritual. Those brought forth by the Spirit exist the sons of God, they are born of God, they love the begotten and those begotten by Jesus, his brethren. These follow his commands, they are strong as the word of God abides in them.

You did not choose me but I chose you and appointed you to bring forth and bear fruit. And your fruit should remain so that the Father gives you whatever you ask in my name.*

Here we see Jesus say we are chosen to bring forth fruit. The word bring forth (ὑπάγω (from ὑπο- (hupo-, beneath) +‎ ἄγω (ágō, to lead)) to lead, or bring forth. It is related to ἄγω, "for those led by the Spirit of God, these exist the sons of God."* Sowing and reaping is not related to money, Jesus said, "look at the birds they neither sow nor reap nor gather into storehouses and the one your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you more valuable than they?"* Sowing is related to the things of heaven that bring us forth to bear fruit. Such things we are to seek, ask, and knock for; bread that endures unto Life. This bread we feed on, it endures unto Life. If we ask he will surely give us all things for this purpose. Though a vessel prepared beforehand will do good works, being appointed to bring forth and bear fruit is about our calling which is related to our reasonable service, to become holy.

but still more, accordingly as the one calling you is holy also become. Become holy in all, convert, for it is written 'exist holy as I exist holy'*

We equate presenting the body a living sacrifice unto holiness that our reasonable service to that of our calling, to become holy. In this is the service of grace, grace being sufficient as it is God's power at work or God's Spirit bringing us forth. Therefore those led by God are called to become holy as Jesus is holy.* So how do we become holy? we present the body a living sacrifice, unto holiness.* What does this mean? It is about God preparing us, a vessel, his workmanship prepared beforehand for good works. If we put the good works before the preparation then we go into all nations not prepared, and as such we are not Christ like though we claim to do mighty things in his name.

Consecrate them in truth, your word exists truth.*

How am I prepared? If it is my reasonable service, if it is what I am called to, to become holy then we ask an important question, how do I become holy? Sanctification is in truth, the words of Jesus. It is the Spirit that leads, and it is the words of Jesus that sanctify. If the Spirit puts to death the deeds of the body and if the words of Jesus exist Spirit and life and sowing to the Spirit brings us forth into Life then the question becomes how do I sow to the Spirit?

For if living according to the flesh, to be about death, now, since the Spirit puts to death the body, you will live.*

The Spirit puts to death the deeds of body, the Spirit raises me up, leads me into newness of Life. If this is happening I will live, I will have life abundantly. So how do I have life? Through the Spirit of truth, "Now at the present time, free from sin and in servitude to God, the fruit you possess to the extent to sanctification, now, its perfection is eternal Life.* I am righteous, I am a child of God, but I exist in this body of death, who will deliver me? I am led into sanctification by the Spirit whom teaches me to abide in the words of Jesus which will transform me, renew my mind so that it approves of the spiritual things of God. Therefore I sow to the Spirit by abiding in the words of Jesus.

You, now, exist not in the flesh but in Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you, whoever not possesses, not having the Spirit of Christ, doesn't belong to him.*

As children of God our true nature is not of the flesh but of the Spirit. And we  acknowledge that we also exist in a body of death in which sin dwells. This is often explained as two dueling realities that are against each other, the flesh and Spirit and the one that wins is the one you feed or sow into. The Spirit of Life frees us from the law of sin and death in this body. We are being raised into newness of Life, transformed into the glory of the image of Christ. We have this hope in him that one day we will be like Him. Jesus is the hope of glory. The Spirit is of truth, the words of Jesus exists truth, they are of Spirit and Life. It is a doubled edge sword of the Spirit which exists the word of God. I am convinced of the dual work of Spirit and Truth; the Spirit is working within us through the words of Jesus. This is how we sow to the Spirit. "My food exists to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish the work of God."* What was the big picture here? what will of God was Jesus accomplishing? Paul writes God did not desire an offering and sacrifice, what he desired was a body prepared to do his will.* As a man Jesus consecrated himself in truth, and he walked according to the Spirit. Jesus intercedes for us as we rule over sin under grace, entering into this reasonable service of holiness.*

For their sake I consecrate myself, so that they also exist consecrated in truth. Not only these that I intercede for but also for all believing in me through their words.*

How important is it that Jesus lived a consecrated life? We talk about his birth, his death, resurrection, and ascension, but what about his life? Without such a life he could not have redeemed us as a man, and he would not have been a sacrifice acceptable to God. How are we to be a living sacrifice acceptable to God? we consecrate ourselves as Jesus did, he is our example and intercedes for us for this purpose. Jesus is our great High Priest "not based on the Law,  coming into existence by fleshly commandments, but on the basis, according to the power of an indestructible life."* By his indestructible life Jesus was a spotless Lamb of God acceptable to God, a propitiation for our sin and that of the whole world. The cross is a sign unto salvation, in which salvation is through the words of Jesus, but we are to feed on this bread from heaven that endures unto Life. How did he live such an indestructible life? he was consecrated in the words of the Father and he was led, brought forth by the Spirit.

Now, the one taught the word shares in all good things with the one teaching.*

Some teach this as pertaining to living off the tithing but in context it is related to sowing to the Spirit, as the next few verses tell us, "Not led astray, God is not mocked, for whatever a person sows that he also reaps. For the one sowing to his own flesh from the flesh reaps corruption. Now, the one sowing to the Spirit, from the Spirit reaps eternal life.* And we see how we bring forth fruit of the Spirit, "the one taught the word" shares in all good things. The fruit we get leads us into sanctification, and the words of Jesus sanctify, therefore the one teaching the words of Jesus facilitates the bringing forth of others. We are are led by the Spirit to abide in the words of Jesus which sanctify, the outcome of such is Life. The Spirit puts to death the deeds of the body, raising us into newness of Life . Our part is to sow to the Spirit through feeding on the words of Jesus.
