Now then, at the present time, no condemnation, those in Christ Jesus.*
Now at the present time in the new covenant there is no condemnation for those in Christ. For those not in Christ these are already condemned because they do not believe in the Son, who God sent to save the world, not condemn it. For those in Christ there is no condemnation.
What is condemnation? The Mosaic Law judged and condemned. The Mosaic Law said that all had sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, it judged and condemned man.* But in Christ we are justified in his blood, we receive the gift of righteousness and grace, and of adoption, being born of the Spirit. This Paul writes to God's children, those who have testimony of Spirit, testifying they belong, that there is no condemnation in Christ.
And the gift is not as by one man's sin, for the judgment following one led to condemnation, now, the free gift following the many transgressions led to justification.*
There is a gift in grace. Paul writes we are "justified freely by his grace through redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God sent forth as an atoning sacrifice in his blood through faith."* In other words Paul writes we have access to this grace in which we stand by faith. Or we are saved by grace through faith. The promise of inheritance, in which the Spirit is a pledge of, rested on faith according to grace so it would come to those under the Law and those not. Judgment and condemnation followed Adam's sin but by the one righteous act of Christ, many will receive life. He lived as a man in a sinful body, an indestructible life, he did not sin, which is what God desired a body prepared for his use a spotless Lamb. If one is in Christ how can one be under grace, and judgment and condemnation at the same time? and how can the wage of sin be death to those being raised into newness of life?
Therefore then as one transgression to the extent condemnation for all men, in this way also one righteous act to the extent justification, life for all men.*
When in the flesh the fruit we got led to death, but when we believed in Jesus we are justified freely by his grace through redemption, and receive life. Therefore the fruit you get is life, "the wage of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal Life in Jesus Christ our Lord"* Though the unredeemed body is corrupt and under the law of sin and death, the Spirit of Life frees us from the law of sin and death, thus the gift is eternal life. "For what the Law could not do, weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh.*
now, the sting of death is sin, yea, the power of sin the Law.*
Paul writes he was free until the Law came then sin taking opportunity under the Law killed him and brought death to him. The Law arouses the sinful nature thus causing sin to abound. The Law with its condemnation of sin did not cause people to come to God as some believe today. Condemnation is like torture in regards to this, sin is aroused under torture. Think about it, the Law is punishing and condemning you for something you have no power to overcome, this is torture and in this sin takes opportunity producing the idea that life is elsewhere. No matter how much you flog yourself, or allow yourself to be under condemnation, you will not overcome the desires of the flesh, as torture will never overcome sin.
now, at the present time released from the law having died to that holding us captive, so that we serve in the newness of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.*
In the new covenant we are released from the Law, being born of Spirit, we are being perfected under Grace in God's power. Today, condemnation is one way evil takes opportunity through handwritings and principles of do not touch, taste, and handle... to bring one into captivity. Because such condemnation is like torture and causes the sinful passions of the flesh to arouse. Torture as a form of self-abasement of the flesh, is like trying to flog sin out of your body, what happens is that sin abounds. This is the idea that torture produces the idea that life is over there, much like the child who jumps the fence to escape the legalistic home. Now, we ask the question, if the power of sin is the Law then how do we take away sin's power?
For sin masters not, ruling over you, since you exist not under Law but under Grace.*
Take away the power of sin. I exist in Christ and exist under Grace not under Law and there is no condemnation. Jesus condemns sin in the flesh by giving us the Spirit, thus we fulfill the Law which is spiritual and the Spirit puts to death the deeds of the flesh. The righteous requirements of the law are fulfilled in us who are born of God. If we will rule over sin, not under the Law but under grace then we understand how grace takes away the power of sin. And we have more understanding of this truth, that Jesus nailed that which was adverse to us to the cross.
Wiping away the handwriting, the one ordinances against us, which exist hostile to us, taking it away nailing it to the cross.*
If I am in Christ and in Christ I am released from the Law with its condemnation then condemnation is not from God. I am convinced that condemnation is of the devil, it does much harm, oppressing God's children to defeat them. And this is what condemnation feels like, oppression, torture. You are not good enough, you will never overcome, the heavy burden of your actions lays on your shoulders, but in Christ this burden is lifted and the burden of following becomes light, it is no longer my burden to bear. Paul writes that God doesn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound, a renewed mind. Fear and condemnation are very related, these are against the Spirit, keeping the child from growing. Like the Law, rules, regulations, handwritings, elemental principles, and consequentialism even have the same power, fear of punishment.
there is no fear in agape love, but still more perfected love drives out fear because fear has torture. Now, the one fearing not perfected in love.*
The devil through doctrines introduced into the Church is condemning many of God's children. Many think this condemnation is God's spirit or conviction. If the Law had power through fear of punishment and the power of sin is the Law then sin abounds under the fear of punishment. What is the solution? We are released from the Law as God is perfecting us in love. Or said another way, his grace is sufficient for us as his power is perfecting us in our weakness. When we entrust ourselves to God we find the service of grace wards off any attempts to perfect ourselves, grace allows for God's power to transform us. Oh child of God be set free from fear and condemnation, you are His child, righteous, spiritual, and beloved. There is no condemnation for you in Christ.
