the one blessing us in all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies...*
In Christ we have been blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies, we have received a legacy. A legacy is defined as inheritance left to someone in a will; gifts receiving by a will, transmitted to someone by another in the past; even the gift of membership in an organization.* A will established by men leaves the gifts of earthly riches and property. A will requires a death to establish it. Christ came to establish a new will, also called a new testament and a new covenant, in his blood. This new will leaves an inheritance also, but the riches are from above and are beyond comparison to the riches of this earth. The legacy we have received in Christ is incomprehensible so Paul prays that we be enlightened unto them. Those in Christ have received a legacy, and more, they are a legacy, the praise of his glory.
predestined for adoption as his own, through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace...*
I am to the praise of his glory, I am his own, I am blessed from the riches of heaven. The legacy of gifts is received through an inheritance, of riches and property. The concept that we are his own possession, begotten of God, a temple of the Holy Spirit speaks to property. I am a house, a tent, a temple of God, his property. I have received such an inheritance and the Spirit is a pledge until I receive full possession. If you are a property of God, say a mansion and I am a tent, then I am least of these his, but what you do to his property you do it to Him as I am his own possession. If one takes from my tent to expand their own earthly mansion then they do so unto Christ.
Leaving a legacy in Christianity is about property, but the property is not of this earth, but of the property of God, the children of God. So we see leaving a legacy is about discipleship, his children growing up into the fullness of the stature of Christ. The legacy in God's kingdom is about how you raised up, build up his children in the Lord. This speaks also to Christians as to our earthly legacy, which is given to our own, which is to raise up our children. It is good to leave an earthly legacy of riches and property to your children, bearing your own load, what you have worked hard to establish they will benefit from. But if you forsake your own children for some earthly legacy this is not of the kingdom of God. False prophets will love the things of this world focusing on earthly growth not on the growth of the property of God, the Church, his children but on an earthly building, property, and riches.
In him we were chosen to exist holy and blameless before him, in love. he predestined us for adoption as his own through Jesus Christ...
Those who have been adopted into the kingdom of God have received a legacy and are a legacy. If we truly believed this then we would treat his property, his children as he would. If one forsakes His property for earthly gain, even if in the name of a lost sheep, he is a hireling shepherd, who cares not for the sheep, the property of God. And such a steward who would forsake His property for earthly property is not worthy of the kingdom of God. Inheritance is a matter of adoption, a Spirit of adoption we received when we heard the gospel and believed.* We receive this legacy not through the old will, the old testament, covenant, but through the new will. The new will established the promise of inheritance which rested on faith according to grace so that through Christ it comes to all earthly peoples, and this the promise of inheritance to all earthly nations.
In him receiving redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, whom lavished on us in all wisdom and insight.*
The legacy, according to the riches of his grace, continues. It is of adoption, redemption, and the forgiveness of trespasses. The legacy of an earthly nature is about accumulating riches and property so that you can leave a legacy. False teachers will think as the world, John writes, they will love the world and desire its riches and property. Especially is this falsehood seen in that they do not love the children of God. The legacy of God is not of this world and is the very reason Christ came and of the concept that we are a legacy, a gift to God in Christ, a holy people of his own. The legacy is the gifts received, so we are a gift to the praise of his glory. The gifts we have received are from the riches of his glory and grace, the spiritual gifts Paul writes of.
search after His kingdom and this near you, do not be afraid little flock, because your Father pleasures to give you the kingdom.*
The legacy came by the good pleasure of his will and it is his pleasure to give us these gifts from the heavenlies. If we ask for anything in regards to this purpose it will be added to us. The purpose speaks not of an earthly legacy but of our individual growth, which is also the concept of being his workmanship, a vessel prepared beforehand, and it speaks of the growth of his brethren. Some believe the legacy of God is of receiving earthly riches, thus someone rich on earth is blessed by God but false prophets by their very nature would seek an earthly legacy in the name of Jesus. Because someone has received earthly riches doesn't mean they are blessed from God, though they might read scriptures from the old testament, the old will, that talks of earthly riches and property, to justify such.
And because you exist children, God sent the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”*
The streets of heaven will be paved with gold, what is of earthly value here is common, unimportant there. I believe this is to remind us these things do not matter in the kingdom of God. If we seek first his kingdom and righteousness, his property, his children, then we know the gifts are for their growth and that the riches of our legacy are spiritual as Paul writes. We see within the gifts of our legacy that of adoption. He doesn't leave us as orphans, but his Spirit has come to us. There exists three that testify that we are his, that we have an inheritance. The Spirit testifies that we are his, heirs, a new creation, begotten of God. The Spirit is the pledge of our inheritance until we require possession.* The Spirit is a pledge, so we see the inheritance is not full and we have this hope in us that one day it will be, we will be like him, the fullness of his stature. The blood testifies that we are forgiven. The water that the body of sin is being purified in Christ, that we are being perfected, matured, in love. These testimonies give confidence, boldness to approach our heavenly Father.
this is what he purposed in Christ, to bring together all in Christ, the one in heaven and the one on earth, in Christ we have obtained an inheritance.*
Yes, we have obtained an inheritance. We can loose sight of the real legacy, his people, his property, his riches, the praise of his glory. False ministry will not recognize that you are a legacy, and neglects the purpose of the Church being to build you up so that you grow up to be like Christ. False teachers will speak of the world, act like the world and talk of earthly legacies. And they lay on the altar God's property, sacrificed for earthly riches and property. They will forsake God's children, his property, his Church, his building, his workmanship for earthly gain, not for the gain of Christ. They seek their own legacy here on earth. But we his legacy can not be so easily forgotten, we exist the praise of his glory, and greater is he who is in us
so that we who have this hope in Him, existing the praise of his glory.*
Yes, I am the praise of his glory. So are you in Christ, blessed incomprehensibly with the riches of heaven. You and I are a legacy, we have received such gifts and inheritance because of Christ. We are property and riches of God, the praise of his glory, and what is done unto us is done unto Christ. The gift of adoption speaks of love and of inheritance, that we are his own possession. One day we will receive our full inheritance but here on earth we are blessed with the riches of heaven. These gifts are spiritual not of earthly will but of the will of God. We are born of God, spiritual, and our inheritance is of the heavenlies.
I pray that your heart be enlightened, that you may comprehend the hope in which he has called you, what the riches of his glorious inheritance in the members...*
Yours eyes be enlightened unto your legacy, that you are his own possession and that you have received great riches in Christ. As it is to his glory, his name, he is concerned with his own property, about our growth, working out all things for our good for this purpose. You are a legacy, a gift to the Father, promised of old through the seed, Christ, for his own. Christ established such a will so that we have inheritance, it being finished, accomplished in Him. He loves and cares for his own, you are his own possession receiving the legacy of membership in his own family, no longer a slave but a son and a daughter, having received inheritance, a legacy in Christ.
