Jesus, Savior

For all who call on his name will be saved.*

This scripture aligns with our focus, what does it means to call upon His name for salvation. It is related to salvation in his name and to confess with our mouth unto salvation. If you call on His name you recognize you are in need of a Savior and that salvation is in no other. The word call means to call (upon), name, be named; (mid.) appeal to, call upon for aid. Calling upon his name is like calling upon the name of a King, it represents his entirety, that salvation rests in Him, and it is by the good pleasure of his will that he will choose to save. This speaks of confessing or speaking with your mouth that he is Savior, the one who can save, he is Lord or the Holy One from God the Son of God and believing in your heart this you will be saved. Thus all who call upon his name, come before the Kind, Lord, will be saved.

I called to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I have been saved...*

The theme of salvation in the old testament, was save us from our enemies, save us from the slavery of Pharaoh...* When the people cried out to God for salvation, God would save them. Often He would raise up a deliver.* "To you they cried out and were saved; in you they trusted and were not put to shame."*"This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles."* Revival, Restoration, depended upon salvation. "Restore us, O God; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved."* The focus of the people at the time of Jesus was earthly salvation, save us from the Romans, they wanted an earthly king, earthly rule, one to provide earthly food to fill their bellies.

Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.*

Often the people would forget about their salvation. "They forgot the God who saved them, who had done great things in Egypt,"* Even today we do, so we should write down what God has done for us so when our faith wanes we can bring to mind again what God has done. The Old pointed to the new, to the promise of rest in Christ, and of Him being our deliverer and Savior. The  concepts of trusting, waiting, and entering into his rest are still true in Christ. God is distressed when his children are distressed, it is his nature to save.Isaiah 63:9 Truly, calling upon the name of the Lord results in salvation.

You come to the help of those who gladly do right, who remember your ways. But when we continued to sin against them, you were angry. How then can we be saved?*

If we continue in sin how can we be saved? Well grace answered that question, and the blood of Jesus Christ solved the issue of sin. How has salvation come to us? by grace through faith. In the Old they were vessels of God's wrath, but in the New covenant we are vessels of His mercy. God's mercy triumphed his judgment, this is grace as undeserved favor. This means God is not angry and wrathful at our sin. A proverb says continued wrath and anger is a sin, and God is not a sinner.

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God.Romans 5:9

In Christ one does not and will not experience the wrath of God. There is a wrath for unbelievers, such speaks of end time judgment of sin, not to be confused with believers giving an account for their lives. And surely Jesus being a propitiation for sin, taking on sin once and for all, appeased God's wrath and anger. Men will be judged and condemned based upon whether they believe in Jesus or not, at Judgment. In Christ there is no judgment for sin as Jesus took that punishment for us, thus there is no condemnation, no consequence for sin, in regards to eternal salvation. In Christ the wage of sin is no longer death as the gift received is eternal Life. Thank you Jesus!

Heal me, Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.*

Salvation and healing go hand in hand, healing having the concept of wholeness, of being made whole. While the physical is not to be ignored, it is better to sacrifice the physical for the spiritual. In other words it is better to be whole in spirit than the other way around. Many Christians focus on works, often at the expense of wholeness as if this is some sacrifice for Jesus, but this is not truth, we are his vessel, his work, a vessel being made whole, in Spirit, in Soul, and one day in our body thus we will experience full redemption and salvation. Spiritual healing is the blessings we receive from heaven, in Christ, though God can and does heal our earthly body, the spiritual man and thus spiritual blessings are much more important.

For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.”*

This is God's rest, not based upon external circumstances nor whether we are physically at rest, but that we enter His rest. How? "in quietness and in trust" Some make a big deal of repentance as some form of atoning for sin, or one must feel sorry for sin so they won't sin again, but this is a form of self-abasement of the flesh, and ignores the atoning blood of Christ. The very meaning of atone means to make amends or reparation. And what is repentance? "in returning and rest you shall be saved." We can boldly approach God, before a throne of grace. This grace we have access to by faith and that we have received a Spirit of Adoption which testifies we belong. And this is what inheritance is, we are not slaves, not servants, we are sons of God, we belong in the house. What good is repentance and returning if one doesn't enter His rest, his fellowship and be cleansed of sin and the defiled conscious?

Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.*

The same concept of rest John writes about, in that we have fellowship with Him and the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. This is the testimony of blood, for initial salvation and the cleansing of the believer who has walked in darkness. The solution to sin is to return and enter his rest, to come into the light, back into fellowship with Him. How many times do we get? Seventy times seven. We enter having fellowship with Christ, and if we have fellowship with the Son we have fellowship with the Father who is Spirit, and we are at peace, and the consciousness is cleansed from sin.

You meet him who joyfully works righteousness, those who remember you in your ways. Behold, you were angry, and we sinned; in our sins we have been a long time, and shall we be saved?*

In the old covenant the Law was based upon works of righteousness, a works justification, were one had to keep every part of the law to be justified, breaking one part meant you broke it all. If we carried this concept of a works justification into the new, then we could attempt to justify ourselves in living to the letter of the law. If we do we Sever from Christ and fall from grace. But also a works justification can be in the good works we do, serving, tithing, helping others... The truth of this verse is still the same God meets him who joyfully works righteousness, but righteousness is not based upon our works but on the works of Christ, and that we have received righteousness in Him. Thus God has saved us and given us the power to become his children, we are his nature, righteousness, thus he meets us the righteous and is working out all things for our good.

In his days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is the name by which he will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.*
The Lord is our righteousness. The Law really said there is no man righteous, no not one. Jesus became a man, the word of God and lived an indestructible life as a man, which means he lived in a body in which sin dwells and evil tempted him as it does us but he did not sin, and because he was a kinsman, he could redeem us, as it was a man who sold our inheritance. Jesus was a spotless Lamb, a body prepared for this purpose acceptable to God as a sacrifice for sin. Does not this sacrifice appease the anger and wrath of God toward sin? Is saying no to such a question like saying that the sacrifice of Jesus was not good enough, that there must be a better sacrifice than the blood of Jesus. The sacrifice of Jesus was enough, it was for our salvation. Salvation is not based upon our works of righteousness.

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God. When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished, saying, Who then can be saved?*
Who then can be saved? Does it matter that the "eye of a needle" refers to the name of a gate or to the actual eye of a needle? no, we see the answer to this in the nest verses. After they asked who can be saved "Jesus looked straight at them saying with man this exists impossible, yea, with God the whole power."* The lesson in the "eye of the needle" is that salvation is impossible for man. It is impossible for a man to enter through the eye of a needle, and it is impossible for man to save himself.

The point is we can't save ourselves and the service of grace wards off any attempt to enter into the kingdom of God but by the true Gate. Truly salvation is only by God's given power, which means He gives us the ability to enter. And such is true of our overcoming sin, not under the Law but under grace, it is by righteousness which we have receive freely, and by his power, the ability he gives us. Salvation, as is the promise of inheritance, rests upon grace, so that it comes to all peoples and all nations. Salvation doesn't rest in works which would be like earning a wage, done in our own strength thus we would easily forget what God has done.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.*

It is truth, those who do not believe are condemned already. John writes Jesus said the Father does not judge anymore but gave him the authority. Thus the Father is not angry and wrathful toward sin.* God gave all authority and judgement to the Son and at the end of days those  who did not believe will be judged. This means also the Son did not come to judge on this earth but to save. If they are condemned already why would I condemn them? Truly, there is no judgment and condemnation in Christ. Jesus said,

Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgement, but has passed from death to life.

There is no condemnation in Christ as one does not come under judgement. Some say that condemning others leads to repentance and salvation, but I do not believe this. In the new we are messengers of reconciliation, of the Spirit, we are ambassadors not of judgment and condemnation but messengers of the good news of a Saviour. In the old God sent judges as deliverers, in the new God sent His Son, on the sandals of peace he delivered a message of salvation, redemption, and the forgiveness of sin. Such is good news to those who will hear and receive. I think there are plenty who will listen, this is time worthy and well spent. How does one not be judged and condemned? believe in the Son.

He saved others; he cannot save himself. He is the King of Israel; let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him.*
Have you ever experienced such a thing, those who claim to be God's children come along and mock you, kick you when you are down, as if this bad thing that is happening to you is because you have done evil? Forgive them they do not see what God is doing, lacking faith. Would the people have believed if Jesus would have saved himself? "If they do not hear Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be convinced if someone should rise from the dead.’”Remember the story of the rich man and Lazarus, it is the same. The people said they followed the Law and Moses but Jesus said they did not even believe Moses and the Prophets, why would they believe if someone was raised from the dead. The Old covenant pointed to Jesus, a savior, and here he was but they saw a pitiful man dying on a cross. Though the scriptures spoke of such they did not know how salvation could come from such a man, they saw earthly things, sought earthly bread, an earthly king and surely this man could not save even himself.
The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.*
How are people saved? the word of God. Jesus is the word of God, who became a man, and as Peter confessed he believed that He was the Holy One from God, he was the Saviour, the Messiah the scriptures spoke of and Peter knew, he personally experienced that the words of Jesus save, they exist eternal Life. To be saved one must consider the words of Jesus, one must labor and eat bread from heaven. One must be born of the Spirit. It is by grace through faith one is saved, so that no one can boast they saved themselves.* "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace." It is the work of God.*
This exists the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.*

To be saved one must believe that Jesus is the one God the Father sent, or said another way one must believe Jesus is the Son of God, or he is the Holy one from God, the Savior, Redeemer... We see conditions of salvation in John 6. One must consider the words of Jesus, laboring in the mind for food that endures unto salvation, one can not labor for it like for earthly bread. Believing is the work of a God, you can not work for it nor accomplish such a task on your own, it is the work of God. One must believe that Jesus came from the Father. The Holy Spirit must draw one to Jesus, as Jesus said the Father grants or gives to Him. No one has seen God the Father, he exists Spirit and draws by His Spirit. Believing is being saved by grace through faith and Jesus is the author of faith. If these things are true then the Father has to grant and Jesus has to author faith in you or said another way believing is the work of God.

I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture.*
Jesus is the Door, the Gate, the Way to the Father, there is no other way. There are thieves and robber who will try to enter not through the gate. One will not enter the kingdom of God based upon their earthly birth, thus being born into a Christian family or being a Jew will not get you into heaven. As Isaiah cries out concerning Israel: Not all will be saved, only a remnant.* Nor will one enter based upon a certificate of baptism, nor a membership in a church, nor will one enter by good works, of tithing, giving, helping others, even orphans and widows. One must enter as Jesus said, by being born of the Spirit. To be born of the Spirit one must hear the gospel of salvation. Our heart's desire and prayer to God for them is that they may be saved.*

You also in Him, hearing the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in Him also believing marked with the promised Holy Spirit, who exists the pledge of your inheritance...*

To be saved is what it means to be in Christ; in Him you heard the word of truth and the gospel of your salvation. how is one saved? hearing the gospel of salvation, the word of truth. If Jesus is the author of faith, the word of God and the truth and the Way, then salvation comes through his words and the gospel is the words of Jesus that give eternal Life. We might hear many words from preachers but if they do not align with Jesus, the truth, the words of Christ, and the Spirit of God doesn't draw then how can salvation come from such preachers? The good news is delivered on the shoes of peace, as the children of God are known as peacemakers not haters and condemners. The message is peace as Jesus came to save thus our words should be words of reconciliation, words of good news, of a Savior. The true gospel is a gospel of salvation so if the Church is not growing what is the issue?

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.*
The concept that salvation is in His name is the same concept that He is the only way, salvation is in no one else. Thus beautiful is the name of Jesus. Salvation is receiving righteousness as our righteousness is in Christ thus I am saved in my heart. Salvation depends upon believing which is the work of God and being born of Spirit, not on saying a prayer out loud, not by walking down to the altar, not by baptism... The Spirit is like the wind that we can not see, thus we can't truly know if a person is truly saved. But God and the person would have testimony, there are three that testify, Spirit, blood, and water, the Spirit being the greatest testimony. If someone believed and then died before they were baptized they would have testimony of the Spirit and go to heaven. In His name encompasses all the works that he has done, thus salvation encompasses all that he has accomplished for our salvation. In His name we are saved, we have justification in His blood, we are saved by His life.* In His name we are saved in this hope.*

For the heart believes to the extent of righteousness, yea the mouth confesses to the extent of salvation.*
I am convinced in context of other scriptures mentioned here that this is not saying salvation comes through confessing with your mouth but that if I am saved I will confess such a salvation with my mouth. It also speaks to salvation is in none other. Think about it, if you were dying, drowning and you called to Jesus and he reached down saving you, would you not rejoice and tell someone that Jesus saved you? And that He saved you by calling on his name? Truly the long arm of the Lord reaches deep to save. And in salvation we see that those who have been forgiven much, love much. These truly know that they have been saved and know of the freedom they have, that they have testimony, that they belong, having peace before God, having testimony of blood, having been forgiven of their sin, and having been set free from slavery. God has truly saved them though the external might not show it, they have testimony internal.

If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead; saved. For the heart believes unto righteousness, now, the mouth confesses unto salvation.*
The principle exists that God judges a man by the heart, the inward. In salvation we are given a new heart and Spirit, we are a new creation. The heart changed will in time as faith must be strengthened, produce fruit unto salvation. It is the inward focus of change that God were he establishes deep roots in things of faith, hope, trust... He forms us new and transforms us through renewing the mind. Eventually the new works its way outward changing external behavior, but God focuses on the root as the root is what produces fruit unto salvation. In such we see the concept that we are saved, being saved, and one day will be saved, which applies to our Spirit, Soul, and Body.

In such we see the concept that we are working out our salvation and that we are growing up unto our salvation. Salvation was in the heart believing but we grow up unto salvation, confessing. Also in this verse we see the faith of Abraham, in that he did not turn back because of unbelief but was strengthened in faith until he was fully convinced. So convinced he would sacrifice his son. A fully convinced person is one mature who has grown up unto salvation and such a person will confess Christ, even it if means persecution or death. We see Peter's maturity in that he denied Christ three times but being fully convinced he would also die on a cross.

In knowing the Spirit of God; all spirits that confess Jesus Christ came in the flesh exist from God.*

Again this word for come speaks of the coming Messiah, to confess he came in the flesh is to confess God became a man, all that encompasses His deity, and that He is the Messiah, Lord, Christ, Redeemer, and Savior. Peter confessed his words exist eternal life and John that He exists the word of Life. He is eternal Life as His words exist eternal life and he is the Word of God that was with God and was God, that became flesh. He is savior and he continues to save.

because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.*

We see what it means to be a partaker of God's divine nature, to be righteous, to partake of his Spirit sanctified by the Spirit, also by His blood, and belief in truth. We see also the washing of the word, and a sanctification by the Spirit. "he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,"Titus 3:5 We were saved out of darkness into the Light, out of slavery into sonship. "Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began,"2 Timothy 1:9 Truly Jesus came to save.
who desires that all be saved and come into the knowledge of the truth.*
This word for come is used in conjunction with the "coming" of the Messiah. So we see that salvation comes through the Messiah, and believing in His name encompasses believing He is the One, Savior, Lord, King, Holy One, Righteous One, Son of God who came from heaven. If you believe this calling upon his name you will be saved, and you will believe he truly died and was raised again. If you believe in Him, the word of God that created all things, you will know, personally experience the testimony of Spirit, that he pours out in our hearts the love of God. You will know you are a new creation and that in him you have eternal Life. If you come to the knowledge of the truth, who is Jesus, then the eyes of your heart have been enlightened, to the great love that he has for you, to salvation, redemption, deliverance and that your sins have been forgiven.

Jesus What a Savior
