Now, seek first the kingdom of God and that His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you.*
The kingdom of God is like a man who finds treasure in a field and then sells all he has to possess this treasure. "A man after God's own heart speaks of one after God's heart, or one that is after or seeks after, or one that is devoted to God."* First, this man was seeking treasure, something he valued. The principle is you seek what you value, and are devoted to this, thus the treasure is where the heart is. Jesus is living bread and when we labor for food that endures unto life we find this treasure as Peter found the words of Jesus exist eternal Life. Believing is the work of God, and it is like "buying in," a laboring in the mind, a persuasion that this food is good. We must be persistent to obtain this bread, even when we have tasted that it is good, we must continue to see it as treasure, something to be sought after persistently. By faith we are given the gift of righteousness according to grace therefore when we find Christ we obtain righteousness, we do not have to work for righteousness. When we seek first his kingdom and righteousness we are really becoming like Christ being transformed into His image becoming who we really are in Christ, our true identity, his workmanship prepared beforehand to do good works. God promises to give us every good thing for this purpose.
Ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.*
The kingdom of God must be taken, possessed, laid hold of, by faith. It is the persistent man knocking on his neighbors door, asking for bread, and it is the persistent widow asking for justice, not that we have to pester God before he will help us, no, the persistence is needed on our part, so that we lay hold of faith. And when we do, when we are seeking, asking, and knocking so that we lay hold of faith, or that faith is increasing in us, we will reach that maturity as Abraham did, when faith becomes fully grown or fully convincing, we bear much fruit.* When we become fully convinced, a heart devoted and a mind renewed to the things of God, faith takes hold of us, God's power works within us, and the things God has promised we lay hold of. When we seek first "... all these things will be added unto you."*
For all that ask receive and the one seeking finds, and the one knocking it opens.*
What do we seek? the kingdom of God and that His righteousness. What door opens? the door to the kingdom of God. Seek it and you will find, knock and it will be opened. "Again the kingdom of heaven exists like a merchant seeking fine pearls."* What is the merchant doing? seeking first treasure, a fine pearl. First we must seek the kingdom of God like it was treasure, this speaks of where our heart is, this is where our treasure is, either it is on the kingdom of heaven or the kingdom of earth. If our heart is divided we will either be devoted to God, or to the things of this world, loving one and despising the other.
For all that ask receive...*
What is the treasure brought out of the house of God? we have seen in the previous scriptures if we seek the treasure it will be added unto us. It is the things of the kingdom of heaven, the very things Jesus told us that must be sought after, he promises to give to us, if we seek, ask, and knock. A scribe (grammateus, from gramma "a letter, writings, learning" and teus, suffix of a person concerned) is a writer, often today called a scholar. Obviously, one who writes must be able to write but also teach, to "bring out" the old and new treasure to teach or disciple. Bring out (from ek "out, out from among, from, and to" and balló "I cast, throw, rush, put, place, drop.") This word speaks of bringing out from the kingdom of heaven with the intent that it is to someone, to be placed, put, etc... This type of writing and teaching seems much more like a sniper focused in on an intended target, so that the treasure is delivered to the heart.
Every scribe or teacher who is discipled in the kingdom of heaven is one who has sought after these things, and now exists similar to the head, who is Christ, in maturity. This speaks of being His workmanship, prepared beforehand, for good works. You wouldn't go out to make disciples having never been discipled in the kingdom of heaven? How can the blind lead the blind? they will both fall in the ditch. And what are the good works? the head, the master, sends out of his house, treasure, both new and old. For what purpose? for the same purpose the scribe was discipled, to disciple. The good works produces disciples, as disciples have put first the kingdom of God seeking after its treasure. Now, truly, the discipler is Christ, so those having been matured are similar to Him and would give out the treasures that matured them in Christ. What good is it if I go around saying I go to this church or I am a disciple of this person? To put first His kingdom is to seek Him above all, hopefully, in this journey one finds a church that also does so.
every good gift and every perfect gift exists from above, coming down from the Father of Light, from whom there is no altering neither a shadowy archetype (trope).*
God is the archetype of Light, the model, the blueprint, God saying let there be Light and there was Light. He is not altering back and forth between darkness and light and if his children ask for bread, he doesn't give them a rock that looks like bread, no. He gives them the treasure of the kingdom of heaven, to those who seek, ask, and knock. What again is the treasure? old and new things of the kingdom of heaven. What are the things of the kingdom of heaven? Surely these things are treasures that would mature us, so that we are Christ like and these treasure create other disciples that would also go and create other disciples. We can define discipleship as maturing, giving understanding into these treasure, that which disciples is that which edifies, that which builds up, increases faith therefore the treasure is the principles of the kingdom of God that build up the kingdom of God. New and old speaks of maturity, and the one matured gives out the new and old, he knows how to build up all, as the matured are like the head, they have been "discipled in the kingdom of heaven." They know how to mentor a child and a young person, yes, these give out the treasures. Ask, seek, knock and you will lay hold of the treasures of the kingdom of heaven. God loves His children giving them good things. Every good thing and every perfect treasure exists from above.

What treasure do we seek first? it is what our heart is devoted to. And how do we know what we are devoted to? It is what we value, "and finding one pearl of great value, he went selling all that he possessed and bought it."* Are you persuaded? Faith means to be persuaded, often compared to a "buying in" but the kingdom of God can't be bought with earthly treasures, nor can we enter by our works. We must be fully convinced it is worthy to be sought. Surely seeking first His kingdom means we must find it valuable, to "buy in," to lay hold of, to possess, so much so that we would sell, everything else to have it. All that ask receive. What do we ask for? the kingdom of God and His righteousness. This speaks of His workmanship, or that we are becoming perfected in Christ, the one perfected and mature in Christ, the vessel prepared for His use will do many mighty works.
If abiding in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever and it will come into existence for you.*
What do we ask for? The treasure from the kingdom of heaven. Ask to know what it means to be adopted, redeemed, and forgiven your sin. Ask that you may know and experience the agape love of God, love that has no bounds. Ask that you may do the will of God. Ask for a heart and mind that seeks first His kingdom, for a renewed mind, one that can discern and approve of God's will. Ask that the eyes of your heart be enlightened and your mind will be set, sound in Him. Ask that your heart be devoted to Him. Ask that you may become like Jesus. "Ask whatever and it will come into existence for you." Now, one must abide, it is the words of Jesus that we abide in, His words give Life, author and increase faith, his words transform. If abiding, ask and "it will come into existence for you."
Do you understood all this? Yes, they said to him. Now, he said, through this every scribe discipled in the kingdom of heaven exists similar, like the head of the house who brings out of his treasure, new and old.*
