Eternal Life

I exist the resurrection and the life. The one believing in me, even if he dies, lives, and all who live and believe in me, none will die. Do you believe this?*

Jesus is the author of faith, he is also the author of salvation, and now we see he is the author of the resurrection. Life is not in his death, life is not in the cross, life is not in his blood, Eternal Life is in Jesus. What must I do to receive eternal Life?

A young man came to Jesus asking, teacher what good thing must I do so that I have eternal Life.*

It is an important question for all, what must you do for eternal life? When Jesus pointed out that following the Law will not give you eternal life, nor doing good things, and how difficult it is for a rich man to enter heaven, the disciples were astounded, also asking "who then can be saved?" Jesus looked at them and said, "with man this exists impossible, but with God is all power."* This is a truth of eternal life, we have no power to accomplish it, all this power exists in God.

Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, and we believe, and know, that you exist the Holy One of God.*

Jesus said "I exist the living bread, the one that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live for all time, also now the bread that I give exists that my flesh, over the life of the world."* The Holy One of God who exists the Word of God, became flesh and dwelt among men. His words exist eternal Life. Jesus brought the words of the Father to earth, becoming flesh God gave him authority over all flesh, and to those the Father had given him he gave the words of the Father, eternal Life.* "And this exists eternal Life, that knowing you, the only true God and Jesus Christ whom you sent."* To know is "to know, come to know, recognize, understand."* To know is understanding that wisdom and understanding comes in knowledge of the Son. Exists means "to be, to exist." Eternal life exists to know the Father and the Way to the Father is through the Son, whom the Father has put His seal on for such a purpose.

That existing from the beginning, whom hearing, whom beholding with our eyes, whom looking and our hands touching concerning the Word of Life and the Life revealed. Also beholding and testifying and proclaiming to you the Eternal Life that existed with the Father and is revealed to us.*

Jesus is who they heard and proclaim, the Word of Life, Eternal Life. When we believe in Jesus we receive eternal life, and we must abide in Him, that whom they heard from the beginning, for eternal life. Like the bronze serpent Moses lifted up, for the people to believe and trust in God, the cross is a sign unto salvation. Life exists not in the cross but in beholding and believing in the One lifted up for salvation. And believing we do not need to keep going back to the cross, laying our issues at the foot of the cross, no, we need to increase in knowledge of the Son, who is Life.

the words that I have spoken to you exist spirit and life.*

Jesus became a sacrifice for and his blood an atonement for sin, it is his blood that justifies us. However, Eternal Life is not in the blood of the Lamb but in the One who was the Lamb of God. Though he did sacrifice and it was his death that established a new will (testament, covenant) Life is not in death nor in sacrifice. The power of life is in His words. We do not need to keep pleading for the blood of Jesus for continued forgiveness, nor as some power to accomplish some work that is accomplished in the One. There is no need again for another or continued sacrifice, it is finished, thus by the works of Jesus we receive righteousness by faith. It is according to grace not by our works but by His, thus we agree with James, faith without works is dead. His flesh was given for life over the world, He was the Word that became flesh, and because His words are eternal life we do not find life in eating earthly food, but life is in food that endures unto eternal life. His words are of eternal life.

For this God so loved the world; he gave his only Son so that all who believe in Him should not perish but have eternal life.*

Eternal life is in the Son, God gave him for that purpose. "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life..."* To believe one must behold, look to the Son, consider his words, and be persuaded. If we receive eternal life when we believe in Jesus then eternal life is given here on earth. When we believe we are born of Spirit, thus we enter the kingdom of God like a child being born into. Paul writes this new creation of spirit sits in the heavenlies with Christ Jesus, thus we have received eternal life, and exist perfect in Christ. Of course we also know the truth, we exist in a corrupt body, on a corrupt earth. In God's wisdom we see his power being perfected in our weakness and that the law of Christ exists to lift the burdens of our brothers or lift them up into life. Those living to the letter of the law, being justified by works, these exist people with calloused hearts, not loving, lacking empathy towards one another. Jesus exists one who sympathizes with our weakness.

If you abide in me and my words abide in you, ask whatever you will and it will become you. My Father is glorified in this, so that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.*

Abiding in the words of Jesus is partaking of Eternal Life. John writes the young person overcomes as the word of God abides in him, thus anything he asks he becomes. Whatever he asks to that purpose he becomes, the purpose of the Church is that we become like Christ. If Christ exists eternal Life then the one in Christ will receive life, which is the end goal of sanctification. Who is the true disciple? the one who abides in the truth, which are the words of Christ, this one knows the truth and is set free. Proving is a test of manhood, and the outcome is Life. "Blessed is the man enduring testing because when he is proven, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him."* A crown of life here on earth. To be blessed is to eat of food that endures unto Life thus to endure unto life one must eat of food that endures unto Life, which are the words of Jesus, which exist Eternal Life.
