For the bread of God exists the one coming down from heaven and giving life to the world.*
What is life? there is an earthly life and a heavenly life, there is Spirit and there is flesh and blood. There is Word and Spirit of Life. What gives Life? the life of the earth requires flesh and blood, blood is the life flow but is this the life of the heavenly? Flesh and blood can not inherit the kingdom of heaven, only that which is heavenly. The fleshly requires perishable food, but the heavenly requires imperishable food. Jesus is the living bread from heaven, the One who came to earth. He is Life to the world, thus to the fleshly man Jesus gives the right to become children of God, to become a part of the heavenly, of Life. It is the Spirit that gives Life and the words of Jesus, they are Spirit and they are Life. In Him we eat of the Word of Life and drink the Spirit of Life. Jesus is the Light and Life of men, the Word of Life, to feed on His words is Eternal Life.

Jesus said, "the one born of flesh exists flesh, and the one born of Spirit exists Spirit."* So we see the distinction between the earthly and heavenly also we find a requirement of entering the kingdom of God, one must be born of imperishable seed, being born from above, or said other ways, born again, born of God, born of Spirit. Paul writes, "Now this I declare, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither does the perishable inherit the imperishable."* The children of God are born of an imperishable seed, by the word of God, "having been born from on high not of seed perishable but of imperishable seed, by the Word, alive God and abiding."* Jesus is living, alive, the Word of God, who was God, abiding with the Father, who became flesh and dwelt among men, "in Him exists Life and whose Life was the Light of men."*

Jesus the Word of Life became flesh, He took on the form of the earthly, of flesh and blood, so that He would take dominion over death and to those who believe, give Life.* John calls Jesus the Word of Life, the One in whom they saw, heard, and touched, this Eternal Life was revealed to them. When we believe in Jesus as Paul writes, when we hear the word of truth, the gospel of our salvation, and when we believe we are marked with the Spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance.* We are born of the imperishable Word of Life and of the Spirit of Life, thus we partake of the heavenly food that endures unto Eternal Life. This living bread is not like the manna in the wilderness which perished, this is bread that doesn't perish, which gives eternal Life to those who eat it. Is there Life in death? Here we see a condition of receiving eternal Life; one must believe Jesus "came down from heaven" or as John writes He came in the flesh or as Paul writes, one believes in the heart and confesses Jesus is Lord. This Lord speaks of the heavenly Lord, the Holy One who came down from heaven.
