Hoping in hope, Abraham believed that he would become the father of many nations according to that spoken, 'in this way your seed exists that.'*
The prophets foresaw into the mystery of the gospel, what has been revealed to us in Christ. And that which was spiritual was also first played out in the natural, Abraham "even so not being weak in faith, considering the one his own body as dead (he being about 100 years old) and the barrenness of Sarah's womb," he hoped against what was seen in the natural and by faith he saw into the spiritual, and believed what God said, that through his Seed all nations and people would be blessed. He foresaw into the gospel, as Paul writes the gospel was preached to him, thus he saw by faith God giving His only Son, and by faith Abraham was counted righteous.
he did not sever through unbelief as far as the promise of God but acquired strength in faith, giving glory to God...*
This word for sever means "to separate, sever" and is often translated as waiver, but it is important to understand that it doesn't mean he did not doubt, or have unbelief, but he did not "separate through unbelief." He did not become severed nor turn back because of unbelief, he endured, pressing in, hoping in hope, he "acquired strength in faith." We should be as the man who said, Lord, help me in my unbelief. Severing is more alike a falling away, turning back, like the Galatians, Paul writes, who severed themselves and fell from grace, turning to a works justification. The promise comes according to grace, "for this reason the promise is based on faith, that it be according to grace, so that it exists certain to all descendants not only those under the Law, but also those of the faith of Abraham, the father of us all."* Because of the weakness of the carnal mind which is contrary to the things of God, we too must press in, enduring being strengthen in faith.
but acquired strength in faith, giving glory to God, bringing to full measure what God promised, existed, also able to create.*
Giving glory to God is to not boast in works, as our righteousness is in Christ. We receive a measure of faith, Jesus being the author and perfecter, thus we acquire strength in faith until we become full to the measure of the stature of Christ, or we become fully convinced of God's word. Abraham being 100 years old and God having reduced the age of man to be 120 years, not having much longer to live his hope did not exist in the natural. Certainly, while Abraham and Sarah were very old and Sarah was barren, Abraham hoped in hope, against the things seen, in the things that exist by faith, not seen.* We are perfected in the full measure of faith when we believe what God promises exist, and we hope against the natural, believing that He is able to create it. "As was written, making you the father of many nations in the sight of God believing in whom believing, the one making alive the dead and calling into being that not existing."*
that creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay into the glorious Liberty of the children of God, for we know that the whole creation is groaning and suffering up to the present time, and not alone, also we ourselves have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly also awaiting adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For that hope in salvation, now, hope seen exists not hope, for who hopes for what he sees? but if we hope for what we do not see, we look through patient endurance. Just so even the Spirit helps in our weakness.*
Patient endurance speaks of keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the object in scope, the lens being faith.* It is not turning back because of unbelief, but looking intently into the truth of God's word, against what is seen in the natural. The children of God have the first fruit of the Spirit, "which exists the guarantee of our inheritance as far as redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory."* This great testimony of the Spirit exists in the child of God, a Spirit of Life and Liberty. Until we receive a redeemed body, we are in the natural, a perishable body, even so we exist an imperishable seed and have this hope and power in our weakness. Blessed are you Abraham, who hoped in hope being strengthened in faith, fully convinced that God would bring it into existence. "That in Christ Jesus the blessings of Abraham comes to a multitude, so that we receive the promise, the Spirit, through faith."* And Blessed are we of the faith of Abraham, who have such hope against what is seen into the things that are unseen.
Now faith exists; assurance, hope, conviction, things not seen.*
This is our victory, faith, and it exists in things unseen, "if you belong to Christ, then existing seed of Abraham, heirs according to promise." We fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith as the promise of inheritance comes through the Seed of Abraham, and by the Spirit. So if "in Christ" we are born of Spirit, children of God, thus a new creation and the promise of being an heir is fulfilled. This eternal Life comes through the Word of Life, who was not received among his own, but to those who did receive Him he gave them the power to become children of God.* What better Oath, Commandment from God? that the Word of God would come and give us the words of the Father that are Life and Light to men. "What great love the Father has given us, that we are called the children of God, so we exist, the reason the world doesn't know us, is that it doesn't know Him."* For we that exist in Christ are hoping in hope, having such hope within us.
