Glorious Liberty

For the creation was subjected to futility not of its own choosing, but because Him who subjected it, in hope, that the creation itself is liberated from its bondage to decay into the glorious liberty of the
one the children of God.*

As I learn more about God, I am set free from the lies I have believed, one such is that I had associated fear of punishment and condemnation as godly discipline. The glory of God in the old covenant has been surpassed by the glory of God in the face of His Son. Paul asks in our "struggle against sin also have you forgotten the helper that speaks to you as sons?"* We are sons, and receive not a spirit of fear, but power, love, and a renewed mind. So the truth in the light of glorification is that we are not being punished but we are being transformed, into "the glorious liberty of the children of God."

We sons should not regard lightly the training up of the Lord, nor be faint in heart when tried by Him, for the Lord disciplines the one he loves and scourges everyone he receives as sons.*

Scourging is flogging, and we know He was flogged for our sin, so we are not being punished for our sin, He is not counting it against us. The truth here is that He is sanctifying the one He loves in truth, as the Son became a man consecrating himself and in truth we also are being sanctified. This is enduring, looking into the perfect law of Liberty, sanctification in truth. It is not punishment, but it is our glorification to the praise of His glorious grace which we have received in the Beloved. The one who abides in truth, remains, endures, this one experiences Liberty. The amazing thing here is that God has received us as sons, chosen by grace, and he purifies those he calls sons. Think of the caterpillar in a cocoon or the scourging of Jesus in which we participate in the likeness of so that we may participate in His resurrection. We are being transformed into the "glorious liberty of the children of God."

Now, we all with unveiled faces beholding as in a mirror, the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as forth from the Lord, Spirit.*

The glory of the new covenant shines, unveiled, in the face of Jesus. "Out of darkness Light shines, whom flooded our hearts with Light, the glorious knowledge of the one God, in face of Christ."*  The fullness of the Father, of grace and truth, came to earth and men beheld His glory, the glory as the only one from the Father. To attain to this fullness is the purpose of the Church, training up the child, into the full measure of the image of Christ, this happens in faith that is active in love. This is not punishment but transformation, and being changed hurts, but we have such help in timely need, as in our weakness His grace is sufficient as His power is being perfected in us, as we are being liberated into the glorious liberty.
