My Father is glorified in this; the one that bears much fruit and becomes my disciple. As the Father loved me, having also loved you, abide in that my love, if one keeps my commandments this one abides in my love, just as I keep that my Father's commandments and abide in His love. This speaking to you that my joy exists in you, and that your joy is full. This is my commandment; that you love one another, as I love you.*
That which is the joy of Jesus exists in you, if you have become His disciple. A true disciple abides in His words, knowing the truth he is set free. "If one keeps my commandments this one abides in my love" so we see obedience is a fruit of abiding, in His words and in His love. Paul writes faith is active in love, and it is truth in love that we are growing into the full measure of Him. And we see joy comes in this fullness. We become His disciple, and we have His joy in us, "that my joy, that existing in you." But we see joy is perfected in us, there is a fullness, much like faith is authored and perfected in us, and our obedience is being perfected by faith active in love, thus our joy is perfected in that you are "keeping my commandments." Do you see it? love perfects us into obedience, and in obedience our joy is full. All this if we become His disciples and abide in His word and love.
Now, whoever keeps his word, truly in that person the love of God is perfected, in sight of knowing we exist in Him.*
The one who exists in Him, he has become a new creation and a disciple, in Him the love of God exists and is being perfected. The perfection of this love is seen in that the one who loves God follows His commandments. "Exist no fear in the one love, but perfect love drives out fear because fear holds punishment, so the one fearing is not perfected in the one love."* We see this clear distinction of the old covenant, in a ministry of fear and condemnation and in the new covenant a dispensation of grace whereby we are being perfected in God's love.
If you keep my commandments you abide in my love... This my commandment; Love each other as I have loved you.*
This is the new commandment, as John writes, it is is experiential love, "as I have loved you." Do you see the cyclic conditional logic? it is brilliant because it doesn't leave out any conditions. I can say I love Him because I obey the ten commandments, or I can say I abide in Him because I am obedient to His commandments. But the fact, or the proof is in the pudding so to say, if I love my brothers, this says I either do not know God or I have not been perfected in His love. So "if you keep my commandments you abide in my love," is conditional obedience of abiding in His words and His love. Therefore, if the disciple who says he is obedient but doesn't obey His commandment to love one another, this one proves he walks not in truth.
I am the true vine, you the branch, the one abiding in me, then I in him bear much fruit, for a part from me you can do nothing.*
Jesus bears fruit through those who abide in Him, so truly we are His workmanship, a vessel for His good works or fruit. We see the same concept as it is His joy "existing in you and that your joy is full." His joy is perfected in us, as we are being perfected in love, so His workmanship is being accomplished through abiding in His word and in His love. Jesus is the vine and the disciple is a branch, a branch must be connected to the vine to bear fruit, this is the idea of abiding, one must abide in Jesus who produces fruit through the branch. How do I abide in the vine? abide in his words and in his love and you will bear fruit. What fruit will I bear? He bears fruit through you.
No one abiding in Him sins, no one who sins has seen Him nor knows Him.*
Some translations add "keeps on sinning" but such speaks of existing. Sin means "missing the mark" of God's righteousness, so we see in context this is related to existing in Christ, receiving His gift of righteousness, being justified by His blood. And we also see the concept of abiding, as Jesus said the true disciple abides in His words, knowing the truth and freedom. The freedom comes through this process of abiding, or we can picture it as the seed of righteousness planted and the fruit you get leads into sanctification, which end is Life. "Now, whoever keeps his word, truly in that person the love of God is perfected, in sight of knowing we exist in Him.*
if the one keeping my commandments abides in that my love, just as I keep that my Father's commandments and abide in His love.*
Our sanctification is being perfected in love or as "grace reigns through righteousness," or righteousness produces fruit through abiding. This is faith active in love or truth in love, as we abide in truth and love by abiding in His words and love, in Him the vine. Like any seed there must exist the right condition of the soil, and righteousness is sown in peace as is the word of God is prepared in peace. The fruit being trust and rest, and being rooted in truth and love. Perfected love produces obedience and obedience produces Joy that is full. Love and joy is a sign of being perfected or of abiding in Him. The one who knows him loves him and is being perfected in love, rooted and grounded in love, the one perfected in love obeys his commandments, thus the fruit of love is obedience and the fruit of obedience is joy. And Jesus gives a promise, in context of abiding in Him, if we abide, if we ask for anything, it will be created for us.
if abiding in me and the one my words abide in you, ask the one if desired and it will be created for you*
"If abiding in me...," what is the significance of this? Peter proclaimed the words of Jesus are eternal Life, and that He is the Holy One of God. Abiding in His words is eternal Life and this Life is in eating the bread of life and drinking living water. Think of this, the Word of God becoming flesh, and that we must eat His flesh. They heard, saw, and touched Him the Word of Life. Jesus is the Word, He was in the beginning with God, was God, in Him is Life. Think of Him giving a command. To abide in Jesus is to abide in His words. He doesn't leave us without ability, so we see the promise also in that He gives us a helper, a Spirit of Truth.
now, when He, the Spirit of truth, comes guiding you in all truth, for not speaking from himself, except speaking very little while listening and teaching you whom coming.*
The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth, Jesus is the truth, thus the Holy Spirit is "teaching you" about "whom coming," or about Jesus. And notice He speaks "very little while listening," and He helps us in our weakness groaning within us when we know not what to pray for. We find His grace in this, that His power is being perfected in us. Our heavenly Father pours out His love into our hearts through the Spirit, thus praise and worship is a powerful means of experiencing God. So we see perfection of love, joy, and power, and a renewed mind. He is not a spirit of fear nor is the child of God under condemnation. We are born of Spirit, and have testimony that we are His child. We are being renewed in the spirit of our minds.
when the helper comes, whom I will I'm sending you from the Father, the one Spirit of Truth, who goes forth from the Father, he testifies about me, yea, you also testify for who exist with me from the beginning.*

We define that to abide in the vine is to remain or abide in Jesus and to abide in Jesus is to remain in His words. His words are eternal Life, the Rock to build upon, the teachings of Christ, the Word from God. This Word spoke commandments. He commanded men the Word of God. If we love Him we love the Word of God, and will obey, thus the great commandment is fulfilled. And there is a command that is the same, one that the Word of God commands; to love one another. To not love is to not obey Him and to not know Him. If we have been perfected in love we will be obedient to His commandment. It is a contradiction to say I abide in truth and do not abide in love for my brother, such a person doesn't walk in Light.
also too perfected, becoming whole, those obeying Him, source of eternal salvation.*
Did you know Jesus too was perfected? Yes, the Father sent Him into the world as He leaves us in the world to be consecrated, purified, holy, sanctified and He intercedes as High Priest for those who will believe that they too will be consecrated as He was, sanctified in truth.* Jesus is our love and joy, He is our existence, in Him we are a new creation, and he is the author and perfecter of our faith "fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who answering to the joy before him endured a cross, disregarding shame and now is placed, seated at the right hand of God."* What joy was set before Him? You. Yes, His joy exists in you, and this He came that you too will be perfected in Him and that your joy may be full.
Thank You Jesus
