“For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.”John 6:56
Jesus said believing is the work of God, it is eating of the bread of God, bread of life, living bread, And He is this bread from heaven which gives Life to the world. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” John 6:51 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. John 6:48 Believing is eating His flesh and drinking His blood, it is abiding in the words of Christ and the Spirit of God.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.”John 6:53
Believing is eating His flesh and drinking His blood. “For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.” Jesus told them not to labor for food that fills the belly, but for true “food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you.”John 6:27 Jesus said, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.” John 6:35 This kind of eating and drinking is believing and it is not of this world. It is the will of the Father, “that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life.”John 6:40 Believing is the work of God, he who comes and he who sees and believes the Son, he who the Father gives to the Son, he who is chosen, he will receive eternal Life.
“Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life. John 5:24
Jesus is the Word that was in the beginning with God and was God, He became flesh and dwelt among men, the Life and light of men. He came among His own and many did niot receive Him. They did not come to the Light, and believe in the Word. Jesus said to them, “and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe the one whom he has sent. You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,” John 5:38
“If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31
A true disciple abides in His words, Jesus said this to the Jews who had believed in him. Those who abide John writes walk like He did, “By this we may be sure that we are in him: whoever says he abides in him ought to walk in the same way in which he walked.”1 John 2:6 A true disciple is one who builds upon the Rock, the Words of Christ, this one abides in Him and walks in the same way in which He walked. And here we see the concept of walking in the Light, “God is light and in him is no darkness at all. If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth.”1 John 1:6 And we know if we abide in Him, the Light, when we follow the words of Christ. “Whoever loves his brother abides in the light, and in him there is no cause for stumbling.” 1 John 2:10
“Whoever feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.”John 6:56
Believing is abiding in the words of Christ and the Spirit of God, this is true food and true drink. Christ is the Word and the Truth, and Jesus said His words are truth and spirit. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no avail. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.”John 6:63 We see the double-edged sword of truth and spirit, the active and living word and spirit. Abiding is in Spirit and Truth, it is continuing in the truth, this is the one who endures. The Spirit of God guides us into all truth so that we are not misled by false teaching.
“But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything—and is true and is no lie, just as it has taught you—abide in him.”1 John 2:27
The Spirit testifies with our spirit that we are His children, we cry Abba Father! Children of God abide in Truth and Spirit, practising righteousness, it is their true nature though the enemy and the carnal mind may say otherwise. Believing is a continual process of abiding in Spirit and Truth. “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”John 15:4-5
