Through It All

"My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish?"... I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me."1

As David experienced so the Son of God experienced and it is because of such that He has become our eternal High Priest, sympathizing with our weakness. Paul writes  three times beaten, once stoned and left for dead, three times shipwrecked, through many journeys and many grave dangers... often without sleep and food, cold and exposed... through it all he learned to trust in Him, that His Grace is sufficient.

Likewise the seed must at first die to produce fruit, it is a principle of the kingdom. We are baptized into His death, entombed, and united with Him in death so that we are raised with Him in life, to produce fruit. Bypass the death and there can be no fruit. It is through weakness that His power is perfected in us, perfected in love, grounded and rooted in Christ. Such love and trust produces true obedience. Though it might seem like such, God doesn't separate Himself from us, we are raised with Him in eternal life. It is our journey through it all, and we learn to Trust in Him.

My strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You lay me in the dust of death.
For dogs have surrounded me;
A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
They pierced my hands and my feet.

I can count all my bones.
They look, they stare at me;
They divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots
...
Deliver my soul from the sword,
My only life from the power of the dog
...
For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
Nor has He hidden His face from him;
But when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
From You comes my praise in the great assembly;

I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him.
The afflicted will eat and be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will praise the LORD.
Let your heart live forever!

All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD,
And all the families of the nations will worship before You.
For the kingdom is the LORD’S
And He rules over the nations...2
