Strong God

A father of the fatherless, a defender of the widows is God in his Holy Place.1

Jesus left his holy place, he who was in the beginning with God, who was God, who created all things. He humbled himself and became a servant. He had no form that was noticeable or attractive, no external appearance that was of nobility or of kingship. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him. He was oppressed, and afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: brought as a lamb to the slaughter, yet he said nothing. He was taken from prison and from judgment. Cut off out of the land of the living.2

I adopted a kitten from a local shelter. I'm a guy right I am not suppose to like cats, she was really a gift for someone else, but I became attached to her. I kept the name she had been given, which was Vera. I found out later in Russian it means faith. Her life is much better than the life that awaited her without adoption, the statistics are grim. She sleeps a lot, I often think she is depressed, but I remind myself she was taken from her family, she has no understanding of why she had been abandoned or rejected, she was not at fault in the matter, much like an orphan, much like me.

When man should have been serving God, God served man. Through the suffering of his soul, he was satisfied: by his knowledge shall His righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquitiesHe was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Jesus had no fault, he was blameless, a spotless lamb, a man without sin, yet he was rejected and despised by man. Yes, he understands the plight of the fatherless, he experienced such rejection without fault, thus he is a father to and a defender of the fatherless in his holy place.

This is God in his heavenly place, this is God on earth; Jehovah has anointed me to preach good news to the poor; he has sent me to heal the broken in heart, to proclaim pardon to the prisoners, and to the blind recovery of sight, and to send forth the shattered in deliverance.3

Father to the fatherless Defender of the weak
Freedom for the prisoner we sing
This is God in His holy place
This is God clothed in love and strength
