For you shall go to all to whom I send you,
And whatever I command you, you shall speak.
Do not be afraid of their faces,
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth,
And the Lord said to me:
Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to pull down,
To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant.1
For I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
Then the Lord put forth His hand and touched my mouth,
And the Lord said to me:
Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
See, I have this day set you over the nations and over the kingdoms,
To root out and to pull down,
To destroy and to throw down,
To build and to plant.1
Moreover the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “what do you see?... You have seen well, for I am ready to perform My word.2
What injustice have you found in your God, that you have gone far from me, who led you through the shadow of death? Where is the gratitude for the many blessings I have given you? I have given you a bountiful country, to eat its fruit and its goodness, but you have defiled it and made it an abomination. Those who handle the law do not know me and the leaders have transgressed against me.
I shall charge you and your children. Has another nation changed their gods, which are not gods? Look through out all the earth, have you ever seen such a thing? My people have changed their Glory for what does not profit. Be astonished, O heavens, at this, and be horribly afraid; be very desolate. For my people have committed two evils: They have forsaken me, the fountain of living waters, and roughly shaped themselves a receptacle for holding water —broken cisterns that can hold no water.
What do you see? I see an oil drill, a cloudy sky with the sun protruding through, and an orange blade spinning.
Again what do you see? I see a cap on a pipe, rim of a wheel, a brass or gold ring.
Behold! God is performing his word, he is doing a good thing.
