For who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me? says the Lord.1
God wants us to boldly, with confidence, come before His throne of Grace.2 If boldly approaching God is his will and repentance is of his will then approaching God produces repentance. If I approach God will I not repent, will I not confess, will I not believe, is not being before God a great thing? Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.3 Who is this who pledged his heart to approach Me. I should not try to rid my soul of any dark blot, but just as I am, I come.
Oh the enemy works diligently to keep us from approaching God, by putting many barriers before us. The enemy says I have to clean up before I come but this is not true, only coming to Jesus makes me clean. I can come to his church, just as I am. The enemy tricks me and tells me I have to repent first, but I can only repent if it is of the will of God, just as I am, I come. The enemy accuses, God doesn't love you, you can't be forgiven, but oh he died just for you, oh sinner come home. The enemy confuses us with all kinds of ways that we should come by such he tries to prevent us from coming, God says just come.
When the spirit leads I think not what I should do, but to come before the throne of God. Such an act pledges my heart to him and I receive mercy and grace as needed. When I came to Christ all I remember is He bidst me come. All the thunder meant nothing, only when I heard his call and knew his blood was shed for me, just as I am, I come. I thought not to rid my soul of one dark blot but just as I am, I come. Satan came against me with all his might, but His promise I heard and I believed, just as I am, I come. His love broke down every barrier, O Lamb of God, I come, I come.
