"In him we have rederedeemed hrough his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.
In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will, so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory.
In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until we acquire possession of it, to the praise of his glory" (Ephesians 1:7-14).
In Him we have been redeemed. God put forth a plan through Christ and the shedding of his blood for our salvation. When we hear the gospel of salvation, which is the word of God who is Jesus author of our faith (John 1:1,14; Hebrews 12:2), when we by faith believed, that very hour we were sealed by the Holy Spirit, v.13-14. "And are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith" (Romans 3:24-26).
In him we have obtained an inheritance. "God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, 'Abba! Father!'” (Galatians 4:6-7). God is purifying a people for his own possession who are zealous for his good works (Titus 2:14), whom he created before hand for his workmanship to do good works (Ephesians 2:8-10). We are adopted as his children to do the works of the Father.
In him we are sealed. God sent forth his Spirit; to seal us as his own (2 Cor. 1:22), to teach us (John 14:26), to speak to and guide us (John 16:12-15), to give us power (Acts 1:8), to intercede for us (Romans 8:26), to be his temple on earth (1 Cor. 6:19), and to put his laws in our minds and on our hearts (Hebrews 8:10), laws of love, Abba Father! Through the Spirit we receive revelation, wisdom, understanding, thoughts, secrets, and spiritual truths from God (1 Cor. 2:6-13). We are sealed by his Holy Spirit.
We are redeemed to serve, "even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Matthew 20:28). We should be servants through whom others believe. Pray that God "may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance.." (Ephesian 1:15-23).
