1040 window, 4010 vision

Jesus said to, "Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation" and "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations" (Mark 16:15-19: Matt 28:19).

The 10/40 Window is a term coined by a Christian missionary, it represents an area extending from west Africa to east Asia, from 10 degrees south to 40 degrees north of the equator. Nearly 4 billion people live here, it is estimated that 1.6 billion of these people have never had the chance to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ - not even once! The seat of every major non-Christian religion; Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, Hinduism, Animism, Atheism, and Sikhism - is headquartered in the 10/40 Window.[1]

1040 Window

The 10/40 Window is home to the majority of the world's poor. Of the poorest of the poor, more than eight out of ten live in the 10/40 Window. On average, they exist on less than a few hundred dollars per person per year. It has been said that "the poor are the lost, and the lost are the poor" as the majority of the un-reached live in the poorest countries of the world. There is a remarkable overlap between the poorest countries of the world and those that are least evangelized.[2]

If you have 40/10 vision you have super vision. God's vision is on the 10/40 window, so should ours. Despite its historical, religious, and geographical significance, an important reason for us to focus our vision here is that 1.6 billion people have never heard the Gospel. "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come" (Matthew 24:14).
