Be Not Fearful

saying legō   to   them autos , “ why tis     existing eimi   fearful deilos ?     Having echō   not still oupō     faith? pistis” * This word for fearful, deilós , means to be "fear-driven," to exist in a state of fear and to be "fearful of losses." Contrasted to anything called godly fear this word for fearful is always used negatively, " yes the fearful , the faithless... their place will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur. This is the second death .” *  This type of fear represents ungodliness so it is beneficial for us of faith to understand fear. Paul writes " for God doesn't give us a spirit of fearfulness but of power, agape love, and a sound mind ." *  This word for fearfulness, deilia , has the same root word as  deilós  which speaks of a fearful type of people from a certain  region , and it also has the meaning of being timid, and cowardly. Certainly, people driven by fear ...

Blessed In The Heavenlies

Bless the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one blessing  us in all,  blessed  spiritually, in the heavenlies in Christ . * In this verse we see three words for blessing in Greek, these words are often used interchangeably in translations confusing the meanings. This first word for blessing eulogētos speaks of one worthy of being praised, and the second eulogeō means to give a blessing as an act of kindness, imparting benefits to the one being blessed. From this idea we get the English terms, "eulogize, eulogy" meaning to celebrate by praising, which is often done at funerals. The common words eú means " well, well done, good, rightly " and lógos  means " a word, a saying, reasoning expressed by words " properly meaning to speak (reason) which confers benefit; hence, bless. *   The idea of logos is more than just saying some words, it constitutes reasoning, or that you have come to reason someone is  worthy of praise, ...

Servant of All

Jesus called them saying, you know that the rulers of the people lord over them, and their great exercise lordship over them existing. Existing not so among you, but, whoever wills to become great among you exists your servant . * We hear much about calling, in regards to leadership, I am called to lead some say. Here Jesus "called" the disciples and to those he called he said to exist great in the Kingdom of God is to become a servant of all. So are those called, called to lead or serve? Think about this, a servant does not lead in fact if he did the one he serves would probably find another to serve him. A servant doesn't become a "lord" over those he is called to serve. A servant doesn't need a vision, a great master plan, no, a servant need only serve the one he serves. Who then exists Apollos? And who exists Paul? Servants through whom believing , even as the Lord gives each. I planted, Apollos watered, but God grows . * No man causes growth, s...

Pastoring, Position of Honor and Service

Do not be called a leader, because Christ exists your only leader, the one now also greatest among you will exist your servant . * Have you ever wondered about this verse? Often it is translated "do not be called a teacher," or instructor but teacher  is a different Greek word. Also the primary gift of Jesus was teaching and he calls people in the Church to teach, giving them the gift of teaching. This word for leader is from two words, from katá "according to, by way of, down from a higher to a lower plane" and hēgéomai, " to lead the way, going before as a chief," properly, a leader. Based upon this definition and other supporting scriptures this verse is better translated as "do not be called a leader," thus contradicting many who would be against such a definition. Jesus is the Way, he is our leader, and a Pastor fits with what Jesus would call greatest in the Kingdom of God, one who is not a leader, not chief, not someone who lords over ...

Be Strong

Through that freely given us, but he honorable also promising so that through this very thing, we become free from the corruption in the world, in sinful desires, becoming a partaker of God's divine nature . * It is an amazing verse, and in context that freely given to us is the power to be free from the slavery of sin, which exists in the old sinful nature, " His divine power freely given to us all, that for the benefit of life and godliness, through the knowledge of the one calling us, his own glory and might ." *  The power lies in the spiritual blessing we have received from the riches of His grace and glory, that of adoption. *  To those who receive him, along with divine favor, grace, he has given us of his divine nature, in that we are born of God, he has given "the power to become children of God, the one believing in his name." *  This power given, is how his children overcome sin, in that we have become a partaker of God's divine nature. * F...

Be Excellent

Indeed, I lead the way, all existing loss through that holding above, that knowing Christ Jesus the one my Lord, through whom all things also I lead the way, counting as dung, in order to win Christ. * Paul is contending in a race, in a stadium where there is a great cloud of witnesses, he sees how others are attempting to run the race, but he holds above all other things; knowing Christ Jesus. Everything else offered up in this race is as dung. Think of what it would be like to run the race only to find at the end what one thought valuable was as dung or as filthy rags to God. So we want to focus on things that strengthen us for the purpose of running this race. Paul writes elsewhere what counts is being a new creation, and faith that is active in agape love. Now, too, in addition to your faith add excellence. Such a thing is being obedient also which strengthens us, building character and endurance so we win the prize. We are very careful not to put excellence before our ...
