Faith Exists Things Not Seen

Now  faith exists;  assurance , hope,  conviction , things not seen . - Hebrews 11:1 I have always quoted this verse as “now, faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things unseen,” but upon close examination, we see much more meaning, it is telling us that faith exists, is present, as assurance, hope, conviction, of things not seen. The word for "is" has a better translation as exist  meaning "to be, exists, present." Faith exists, and it has things, or matter, deeds, work, that is not seen. Assurance means “confidence, trust, being sure; being, essence” it is a standing under, a taking of a thing upon one’s self; an assumed position. Faith exists as assurance, so please be sure of your salvation, if you are not read Full Assurance . Conviction here is defined as a trial in order to prove; a certain persuasion. This fits with the root word of faith and the idea of faith being a firm persuasion, and it is the concept of approving and rece...

Faith's Foundation

now, faith exists a foundation; hope, proof, things done not seen (Hebrews 11:1) This verse is usually translated as something like "faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" or "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." I have often used a more literal translation of "faith exists; assurance, hope, proof, things not seen.” Lets look at the word often translated as assurance and confidence (ὑπόστασις, ( hypostasis ). Thayer's Greek Lexicon gives it the meanings "a setting or placing under; thing put under, substructure, foundation; that which has foundation is firm; that which has actual existence; a substance; the substantial-quality, nature; steadiness of mind, firmness, courage resolution; confidence, firm trust, assurance. It is from ὑπό (hupó, “down, under”) + στάσις (stásis, “standing”). The idea is that faith exists a foundation, something to stand on, evidence, substanc...

Faith Exists Assurance

Now faith exists assurance, hope, proving of things not seen. For in these the elders testified (Hebrews 11:1-2) Faith exists assurance, ὑπόστασις ( hypostasis , from hypo "under' and histemi "stand"), meaning support, substance, steadiness, and assurance. Assurance is defined as the act of assuring; a declaration tending to inspire full confidence; that which is designed to give confidence. * Also as the state of being assured; firm persuasion; confidence or trust; freedom from doubt; certainty. Faith exists assurance which is the act of assuring, designed to give confidence and trust.  Confidence is defined as the act of trusting, or putting trust in. There is a difference between assurance and confidence. Faith's assurance is designed to give confidence in God but confidence by itself can be a state of mind characterized by one's reliance on self, and circumstances, having a feeling of self-sufficiency and assurance which leads to a feeling of security; s...

Putting Off the Grave Clothes

The dead man came out, his feet and his hands bound in bandages and his face wrapped in cloth. Jesus said, loosen him and let him go . * One translation reads, "take off the grave clothes and let him go." Like Lazarus there is no question we were dead, we existed as the old man before Christ spoke life into us. And he continues to give us life. We died with Him, we were crucified, buried with Him in baptism, we participated in the likeness of His death so also we participate in the likeness of His Resurrection. Jesus is the resurrection and the Life, if you believe this then "take off the grave clothes," you are a new man, so walk in newness of life. It is a picture of baptism, the earthly man, the old self dies, crucified with  Christ, putting off the grave clothes we walk in newness of life.  Therefore, as you go, train in discipleship all, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teachings them to guard all that I charged...

The Gospel, In Power

Also this my words and this my message, not in persuasive words of wisdom but in manifestation of Spirit and power, so that your faith exists not in wisdom of men but in power of God. * The power of God rests not in persuasive words of men, but in manifestation of Spirit and power of God. Persuasiveness of the gospel comes not in eloquent words of men but from God. The definition of faith  includes firm persuasion, assurance, and firm proof. Therefore persuasiveness of the gospel is that which increases faith. Paul writes anything not of faith exists sin. *  If we truly believed this then we would focus on what increases faith? and not sin? What is the purpose of the gospel being in the power of God? so that your faith exists not in wisdom of men but in power of God . The gospel is in the power of God so that faith exists in the power of God. When I came to you brothers, I did not come according to prominence of speech neither wisdom, to announce ...

Faith Given

For the one grace exists saving through faith and this is not of yourselves, it is a gift of God . * This verse is usually translated as "for by grace are you saved through faith" but the Greek for through and by are the same word, so it is better translated as "for the one grace exists saving through faith." Later Paul writes, there is only one faith and one Lord. *  And one grace, " yea, each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ ." *  And we have access through Christ " through whom we have also obtained access, the one faith, to the extent of the one this grace in which we stand ." *  Through Jesus we obtained access to grace and faith. This fits with other scripture, Jesus is the author and perfecter of our faith. *  And as Jesus said, " this exists the work of God, so that believing to the extent of whom he sent ." *  Faith comes in believing in Jesus, therefore, faith is a gift given, and it is accord...

Hoping in Hope

Hoping in hope, Abraham believed that he would become the father of many nations according to that spoken, 'in this way your seed exists that. ' * The prophets foresaw into the mystery of the gospel, what has been revealed to us in Christ. And that which was spiritual was also first played out in the natural, Abraham " even so not being weak in faith, considering the one his own body as dead (he being about 100 years old) and the barrenness of Sarah's womb ," he hoped against what was seen in the natural and by faith he saw into the spiritual, and believed what God said, that through his Seed all nations and people would be blessed. He foresaw into the gospel, as Paul writes the gospel was preached to him, thus he saw by faith God giving His only Son, and by faith Abraham was counted righteous. he did not sever through unbelief as far as the promise of God but acquired strength in faith, giving glory to God ... * This word for sever means "to separat...

The Greatest Gift, Love

Earnestly desire the greater gifts , but now I will show you a way beyond comparison . * If we read on we will find out what is the way beyond comparison. Out of all the gifts there is one that is the greatest, the way beyond comparison. This gift surpasses our human understanding but it is something within reach, " that able, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth both knowing the love of Christ surpassing knowledge, and that being filled to all the fullness of God ." *  There is a gift of  Agape love , which speaks of devotion, of an active love associated with true relationship, which often requires sacrifice. Foremost, we love God because He first loved us, we experience this love. God loves and favors not based upon merit but according to grace. He is devoted to us in love and desires that we be devoted to Him in love. God is love and the greatest gift he gives man and the greatest way, a way beyond comparison , is agape love. ...

Existence of Things Unseen

Faith perceives the universe was created by the word of God, to the extent of what is seen, comes into existence not coming into existence from that visible . Hebrews 11:3 This is the nature of faith, it perceives things that exist but are not seen with the natural eye.  Perceive means to understand, see with insight, reflect. This kind of seeing and understanding does not come through the natural but is given to us in knowledge of Christ. If someone doesn't believe the earth was created then this person does not possess faith as only by faith do we see the things that are unseen. Faith perceives the existence of things unseen. Now, faith exists assurance, hope, conviction of things not seen . For in this, those past give evidence. Hebrews 11:1 The things that exist are created by the word of God. The word of God is Jesus who existed in the beginning with God, who was God, and who created all things that were ever created. *  Think about this, in Jesus, the one who...
