I Have Loved You with an Everlasting Love

from far Yahweh has appeared to me, saying I have loved you with an everlasting love, for this reason I have drawn you with loving kindness -Jeremiah 31:3 God's love is an everlasting love, to those he loves, he draws with loving kindness. 'I have chosen you, in love, before the creation of the world," (Ephesians 1:4), with a love that is ever-lasting. As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated” and "though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls..." (Romans 9:11-13, ESV). God loved Jacob with an everlasting love. And In Christ, he calls those who were not his people "my people and the ones not loved, beloved" and they will be "called sons of the living God" (Romans 9:25-26).  (Romans 8:28) Look closely at this verse in Greek, or the transliteration above, it says "the ones loved of God." God ...

God's Love in Election

“I have loved you,” says the Lord . But you say, “How have you loved us?”(Malachi 1:2) God had loved Israel but how they asked. The response is interesting, "Is not Esau Jacob's brother?” declares the Lord. “Yet I have loved Jacob 3 but Esau I have hated" (Malachi 1:2-3). God shows his love for Jacob, Israel, which he demonstrates through election. "though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad—in order that God's purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls— she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated” (Romans 9:11-13, ESV).   Esau was immoral and sold his inheritance and sought repentance in tears but wasn't granted it ( Hebrews 12:17). Was it because of his sin? Or because of God's purpose of election? Before they were born, before they had done anything good or bad, God chose Jacob. Paul doesn't use foreknowledge in this verse...

Setting Your Hope

... setting your hope completely to the extent of the grace brought to you in revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:13) Hope is an important part of the Christian armor, we are to put on the hope of our salvation. Paul writes that "now remains faith, hope, and love..." these three I believe to put emphasis on its importance. Hope is an element of faith which exists unseen. "For of hope saved, now hope seen exists not hope, for does anyone hope for what he sees? but if hope like as not seeing, we wait expectantly through endurance" (Romans 8:24-25). Of hope we are saved, and we have a hope of our salvation to come, hope of our calling, of eternal life. for creation early awaits the revealing of the sons of God. For creation was subjected to futility not of choosing but through the one subjecting to the extent of hope (Romans 8:18-21) It is an amazing verse, God subjected the earth to corruption to the extent of hope. What does this mean? "because also the crea...

Grace Revealed

therefore gird up the loins of your mind, vigilantly setting your hope completely to the extent of the grace brought to you in revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:13) the word for gird up, is ἀναζώννυμι (anazōnnymi) from ana "up" and zónnumi "gird." It is similar to the word "girding about" in Ephesians 6:14, "stand therefore girding about your waist in truth..." this word is περιζώννυμι (perizōnnymi) from peri "about" and zónnumi "gird." Gird about your waist with a belt of truth seems appropriate use but gird up the loins of your mind seems a strange thing to say. "Gird your loins" has similar meaning in most dictionaries; t o prepare oneself for something difficult or challenging. Prepare yourself, your mind, be vigilant setting your hope completely on grace that was revealed to you. Let us prepare our minds. "Because the Law was given to Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ" (John 1:17...

Sufficient Grace

and he said to me, “my grace is sufficient for you, for that my power is fulfilled in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9) Grace is sufficient (it is enough) for in weakness (being without strength; faulty, illness, suffering) grace is enough for God's power to be fulfilled (completed, finished, accomplished). Is weakness and frailty needed to receive grace so that God's power is fulfilled in us? be humble under the mighty hand of God so that he exalts you in the opportune time (1 Peter 5:6) Humility means to show true lowliness, it is an admittance of being weak and frail and in need of help, help from someone who has power to help. This is why in the next verse, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Paul writes "for this reason I am content in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions and anguish on behalf of Christ, for whenever I am weak then he is strong." In these weaknesses Paul had learned the nature of grace and how humility is an important part in receiving g...
