(Hebrews 10:36) The writer to the Hebrews tells them to remember their former days when they had weathered difficult struggles, suffering, were made into public spectacles, insulted and persecuted, suffered in prison, and with joy accepted the confiscation of their belongings knowing they had a better and lasting possession (Hebrews 10:32-35). They had been suffering for a long time and were becoming disheartened, and Paul writes they were in need of endurance. Long-suffering is more difficult to endure. They needed the endurance to do the will of God and by doing the will of God they would receive that promised.
