Wait On The Lord

Wait on Yahweh, be of good courage, he will strengthen your heart. Wait, I say, on Yahweh . * What does it mean to wait on the Lord? Why do we need to wait? Such a concept is like persistence, we are not pestering God to help, no, there is a renewing of the mind in the act of persistence, so it is in waiting. Paul writes in fighting the good of contest of faith " I do not box as one beating the air ." *   The word wait is a transitive to hope and a transitive requires an object. Wait requires hope and hope requires God. Like the word fight in "fight the good contest of faith," it requires action and that there is a "good contest of faith." *  Fighting without faith is like boxing at nothing, at the air. Waiting requires an object, God, and an action, hope. Waiting without God and hope is like beating the air. Hope is an element of faith and faith exists of things unseen thus hope is not wishful "boxing at the air," but has is tangible a...

Turn your eyes upon Jesus

O soul, are you weary and troubled? No light in the darkness you see? There’s light for a look at the Savior, And life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus, Look full in His wonderful face, And the things of earth will grow strangely dim, In the light of His glory and grace. ... Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus For this exists the will of the Father, that all who look to the Son and believe in him have eternal life... *

I Will Lift My Eyes

Unto you I lift my eyes, who dwells in the heavens. * The eye is the lamp of the body and by extension the eye means the faculty of mental perception and understanding thus where the eye is that is where the heart is and the treasure of our heart the eyes are focused on. *  The treasures of heaven are not the same as the treasures of this earth and those who have been matured in Christ do not give out false hope in earthly blessings. How do we focus on the treasures of heaven and take our eyes off of the things of this world? We put our eyes on the maker of heaven and earth, we lift up our eyes, we trust in Him, who dwells in the heavens. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth . * If there is an issue of the heart then there is a mind set on earthly things. Such is good news for those who want to seek heavenly things, the eye is the lamp of the body, set the eye, the mind on things above. To set the mind on things above is to set your eyes on...

Hope In Exile

" For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future ." * It is an amazing verse, and in context it is to the exiles of the children of Israel who had been brought into captivity, who had remained in Babylon. They had been disciplined, Jeremiah writes but God would not let harm come to them, he had plans for them, to prosper them, to give them hope and a future. Though in captivity and exile the children prospered in a spiritual way and the scribes were writing down the scriptures. One can imagine what the people thought, God's wrath poured out against them, but in captivity Jeremiah sends a message, " the exile will be long. So build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat their produce ." Remember in the exile, God has not forsaken you, He has a plan for you, to give hope and a future.  ... the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed in front of the temple of...

My Help Comes From The Lord

I lift up my eyes to the hills-- where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth . * " The Lord is your keeper .  The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night, He will not allow your foot to be moved ." *  This word for  keeper  means He will keep, watch, and preserve the one who trusts in Him. He will keep you in all your ways, he shall bear you up, carry you upon his shoulders, lest you dash your foot against a stone. *  He is the cleft, the rock of ages, shelter during a storm. Under the shadow of the Almighty one will surely say, he is my refuge and fortress. *  Though the adversary attacks you during the day and pestilence stalks you during the night, though destruction waits for you at noon, and a thousand will fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand it shall not come to you, the one who trusts in the Lord. He shall be a refuge for you. ...

To Be Loved By Him

this hope doesn't disappoint because the love of God is poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, the one given to us . * This word for disappoint , is from two words ""according to, against" and "to dishonor, humiliate, shame, frustrate, disappoint." As children of God we are not disappointed, not put to shame as we have this hope in Christ. Also we should not be frustrated and discouraged, the world doesn't love us because it doesn't know him. The children of God love one another, as He loves us. Peter writes if anyone suffers being a Christian we should not be ashamed but glorify God for this name. *  Notice, it says "this name," we glorify God in that we are called Christians, such means that we are like Christ but also that we are called the children of God and so we exist. I am a Christian is synonymous with I am a child of God. And a child speaks of inheritance, in which the Spirit is a guarantee. We should find it very...
