The Love Of Things

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.. 1   The world and its things are passing by, but whoever does the will of the Father will abide forever. Many Christians associate doing the will of the Father with following the law, or the commandments as in the Ten Commandments. But Jesus sums up the law in two commandments, loving God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. And the second one like the first, loving your neighbor as yourself. He knows where the battle will be, in our hearts and minds so he gives a new commandment, as he came and loved we are to love as he does. We overcome the world through changing the things we love. The Bible not only tells us what these things of the world are but it also gives us the solution, of how to overcome the lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life. Following God's law is an outward flow of the heart, it is an i...

Working Out My Salvation

with fear and trembling, your own salvation work out . 1 There are principles of God that are important to understand, it is to know the "why" behind the scriptures, it is experiential knowledge versus head knowledge, it is faith being worked out. For example, " the truth will set you free " what does this mean? Or if I say " work out your own salvation " And what happens if we use these words in and by themselves with no explanation of the "why"; of their meaning? is it helpful or harmful? Syntax is the grammar, describing the way to construct a correct sentence. but semantics relates to the meaning. For example, " I am a sinner saved by Grace" , what does it mean, its semantic? I was a sinner and I am now saved by Grace? or does it mean "I am a sinner and I am saved by Grace?" In these examples, the validity or truth of the sentence is based upon conditions, so these are truth conditional semantics. In Logic, which...

Holy Priesthood

Jesus became a priest not according to the law of a commandment, but by the power of an indestructible life. 1   John receives a message and he is told to write what he sees and to send it to the seven churches. The seven Churches are lamps, lights to the world. Here the Spirit speaks to the churches, they need to be refined by Christ. "I counsel you to buy from me gold refined by fire, so that you may be rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself and the shame of your nakedness may not be seen, and salve to anoint your eyes, so that you may see. Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent."5 Gold is often referred to in the testing of our faith, and the testing of his Church. 6  "But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold." 7 Out of testing, or refining, will come the true people of God. 8 Jesus sits as a refiner and purifier of silver; "he will purify the priests and refi...

Spiritual Warfare

Be empowered in the Lord and in the strength of his might . 1 God is Spirit, we worship God in Spirit and Truth. As believers we are in a battle, so it would be wise to know how to fight. As a military strategist will tell you, one of the most important things you should do, is know your enemy. It is important that we know what the schemes of the devil are,  we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 2  We are against rule , authority  (influence, power), of the ruler of this world (Satan and demons influencing the lives of people), of demonic powers of darkness, against the spiritual  forces of evil in the heavenly realm (realm of spiritual influence, referring to the impact of influence on the particular situation or person). We are to be empowered in strength of the might of God, putting on the ...

Trust and Obedience

Obey those leading you and be submissive, they indeed watch over your souls, as account about to give...1 Our relationship with our heavenly Father is one of trust and obedience.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding , 2  When we understand his great love for us, we love because he first loved us. 3  Through this love and trust, our roots growing deep in him, we are obedient. This type of trust and obedience go hand in hand when dealing with earthly authority; others trust, submit, to authority when leaders are submissive, obedient, to the authority of God. Trust is the essence of faith, our laboring into believing is one of persuasion and it is one of trust. Moreover, now is faith the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not being seen. 4  Faith is defined as belief, trust; it is God's divine persuasion. The root of the word faith is peithô ("to persuade, be persuad...

What is Genuine

Esteem it all joy, my brothers, when trial you might encounter. Knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance, and let endurance work, perfect, that you might be perfect and complete in lacking nothing. James 1:3 When I encounter trials I am to esteem joy (from ágō , "to lead" and hēgéoma, "what goes before, in front"; properly, to lead the way, referring to coming first in priority). When trials come, and they will as they perfect us, I am to make joy a priority in my mind, to lead it into my thoughts. The testing  (trial, what is genuine) of your faith (belief, trust) produces endurance  (remaining under, steadfastness). Let endurance work (labor, accomplish; a deed, action, that completes an inner desire) and perfect that you might be perfect and complete. The testing of our faith produces what is genuine; fullness, perfection, completeness, so that we lack nothing. Oh to be complete in Christ. Endurance is needed to run the race.  Through...

The Promise

Moreover to Abraham were spoken a promise and to the seed of him, it does not say, And to the seeds, as of many, but as of one and to the seed of you which is Christ . 1 This promise was to a seed, an offspring, not many seeds nor offsprings.  In you shall all the nations be blessed . This was a preaching of the gospel beforehand to Abraham, before the law. It was a promise of redemption, of justification by faith that the scriptures spoke of. It was a promise of God pouring out his spirit on all people, of a replacing of our hearts of stone with a heart, circumcised by his Spirit. In Christ we are sealed with his spirit as a guarantee of our inheritance as sons, in which we cry Abba, Father!  It was a promise of eternal life that the law could never give. It was a promise of a new covenant; for by Grace  have we been saved through faith .  This gift was given, the promise through a savior , accomplished through Christ Jesus. So then, those who are o...

Law of Liberty

So speak and so do as through the law of liberty . 1 We are to speak and do on account of a general principle of freedom. This word for do, is the same word that is used to refer to doing sin, or practicing sin, and the same used for doing the will of God. We are to do as through the law of liberty, this becomes an outward flow of faith with works.  It is evident that no one is justified before God by the law, for “The righteous shall live by faith.” 2   This law of liberty says I have died to elemental principles, that I might live to Christ, by faith. However, there is a law that states faith without works is dead and the law of liberty doesn't surpass the law of love. The law of liberty states that there is no justification by works of the law, this is through faith in Jesus Christ. 4  I am not to rebuild what I tore down. 5  The law was a tutor, a manager, a guardian, it was added because of transgressions until the Seed, Christ should come. 6   The...
