Great Faith

when you have done all that you were commanded, say, We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty . 1 There is a story of a ship captain who is trying to communicate with what he believes to be a ship heading toward him. He commands the young man on the radio to change course. He states with authority, I am a battleship commander you will obey and change course. The response he receives is unexpected, I am a private first class and this is a lighthouse, you will change course. A commander of a Battleship of the United States of America would command much authority and respect on the seas but such authority will never move a lighthouse. God's principles are like lighthouses, our authority will never move His principles. Today many people operate to sensuality, not principles. This is often called personality ethics, which is much different than previous generations who operated to character ethics. Today I am to enlighten myself, to mold myself using self-help te...

Praise His Name

For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God . 1 God loves praise because goodness is his attribute. It is like a father affirming his child, I love you, you are so good. And a son giving his father glory. God is so good that He is the source of goodness . 2 This affirmation, this goodness, edifies us, it builds us up into his love, it reassures us in our relationship with him. God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose . 3 He wants our praise because he loves us so, when we praise him, our spirit exalts his name, and we are one with him. This is the glory that Jesus so yearned to experience again, as He prayed to the Father, that we too would experience this oneness.  God is also omniscient, which means He knows all that there is to know. It is at times difficult to see his goodness because one of his attributes is transcendence; his ways ar...

Is Saul also Among the Prophets?

Has not the LORD anointed you to be prince over his people? And you shall reign over the people of the LORD and you will save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies. And this shall be the sign to you that the LORD has anointed you to be prince over his heritage. 1 Saul had been anointed by God to be the leader of his people. The people had rejected God's rule and wanted a king to rule, like the other nations. 2 Samuel the prophet would bring forth this message to Saul, he was chosen by God to be the King of his people an d would save them from the hand of their surrounding enemies . God would give them a sign of such . And there would be a sign to the people . Samuel commanded Saul to go home to his father and on the way he tells him what will happen, that this would be a sign to God's people that God had chosen Saul. On the way, there will be three men going up to God at Bethel. They will meet you there, one carrying three young goats, another carryin...

That My House May Be Filled

Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. 1 One Sabbath, Jesus was invited to the house of a prominent Pharisee, Jesus was being carefully watched by them. As they walked to the house, in front of Him a man was suffering from abnormal swelling of the body. Jesus asked the Pharisees, i s it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not ?   But they remained silent. Jesus reached down, healed the man and sent him on his way. He then says,  Which of you, having a donkey or an ox that has fallen into a pit, will not immediately pull him out on the Sabbath day? And they could not answer Him regarding these things. Is it unlawful to make a man whole on the Sabbath? As they arrive at the house, Jesus sits in the lowliest place at the table, he then notes how the y chose the best places at the table and how they left out others , especially the unclean, the sinners. Here is Jesus sit ting with them, he had just healed a man in their s...

What Great Love

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God ! 1 And this is what we are, children of God if we love as he did and follow his commandments. While we are not quite like him, such has not been made known to us, we do know that when he appears we shall be like him. One day we shall see him as he is.   The world doesn't know us as it doesn't know him. Oh w hat g reat l ove the Father has lavished on us,  and now abides hope, faith, and love, the greatest of these is love.   All who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure. 2 Being pure is not being of lawlessness and it is loving one another. Everyone who practices sin is breaking the law, as sin is lawlessness. Jesus came that he might take away sin. If sin is lawlessness and He came to take away sin then He came to take away lawlessness. How did he take away lawlessness, can I fulfill the law in this sinful flesh? He came to fulfill, finish, or comp...
