Lord My God

O Lord, You are my God. I will exalt You, I will praise Your name, For You have done wonderful things; Your counsels of old are faithfulness and truth. 1 O my soul, you have said to the Lord, “You are my Lord, My goodness is nothing apart from You.” 2 Blessed be the Lord my Rock, Who trains my hands for war, And my fingers for battle— My loving kindness and my fortress, My high tower and my deliverer, My shield and the One in whom I take refuge. 3 To You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in You... Show me Your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God of my salvation. 4 Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore. 5 O God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; My soul thirsts for You; My flesh longs for You In a dr...

Applied Knowledge

Solid food is for the mature, who by constant use of their senses have trained for the discernment of good and evil . 1 The idea of maturity in believers speaks not only to spiritual maturity in our relationship with God but also of a mental maturity. The mature can discern good from evil because they have been trained by constant use of their senses. Through the senses we discern, we perceive, but we must train these senses. We discern with the Spirit using our organ of sense, our brain , in many ways, like renewing the mind through habits to produce a functional applied knowledge gleaned from first-hand (personal) experience, connecting theory to application . This is the essence of our mature faith, substance and evidence, applied knowledge of God. Solid food is for the mature . This word for mature is téleios , properly having reached its end, its finish, perfect, mature (consummated) from going through the necessary stages to reach the end-goal, i.e.developed into a co...

Applied Teaching

Every scripture is God breathed and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training, in righteousness . 1 Scripture is profitable for teaching in righteousness. The word for teaching here is didaskalía which means teaching, instructing, properly it means applied-teaching ; derived from didáskō , to "teach", its root is daō , to "learn". So literally teaching is to cause to learn, to instruct, impart knowledge. Teaching is applying instructions as it especially extends to its necessary lifestyle (applications), it is to hold discourse with others in order to instruct them, to explain, expound, a thing . This is the idea of the Christian faith, teaching being applied, faith with works. Faith comes through the Word of God, through hearing instruction, it must be applied else it is dead. Scripture is profitable for reproof in righteousness. This word for reproof is elegchos which means persuasion, a proof, reproof. 3 Reproof is re, with regarding ...

Jesus: Author of Salvation

It was fitting indeed to him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, many sons to glory having brought the author of the salvation of them through sufferings to make perfect the one both indeed sanctifying and those being sanctified of one are all for which reason not he is ashamed brothers them to call . 1 Jesus is the author of our salvation, this Jesus, the Word which was with and was God, in the beginning, everything was created for and by him. Jesus is also the author of faith. 2 This word for author used in author of salvation and faith is arxēgós, which means originator, author, founder; from arxḗ, "the first" and ágō, "to lead, to lead by accompanying, to lead by laying hold of. " This Jesus laid hold of me, leads me, he is with me, I abide in him and he in me, I lay hold, seize, overtake, comprehend.  Though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal...

Prophecy, Dreams, and Visions

And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams . 1 Abraham the father of the faithful was a prophet, this is recorded in the Bible. 2 We know of Moses and John the Baptist and how the Bible specifically mentions they were called before birth. Ezekiel and Jeremiah were priests as well as prophets. Elisha the prophet was also a farmer. 3 Daniel was a Persian government administrator, second in charge under Cyrus the Great. 4 Joesph interpreted dreams and visions, as a boy he had told his older brothers they would submit to his authority one day, they threw him in a hole and sold him into slavery, later he a managed a prison and was appointed second in charge in the Pharaoh of Egypt. Saul first king of Israel walked among the prophets and ate of the priestly bread, God gave him favor in the sight of the pe...

Where Feet May Fail

My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. 1 My feet had almost stumbled; My steps had nearly slipped. For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked... Their eyes bulge with abundance; They have more than heart could wish. They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression; They speak loftily... But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works .2 You call me out upon the waters The great unknown where feet may fail ...  Where Feet May Fail

All Things New

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new . 1 As I look at this verse I am amazed at the meaning of the words. I believe it exemplifies this idea of a born again spirit and working out our salvation, Justification and Sanctification. I am a new creation in my spirit. This word for new creation ktisis, properly, creation (creature) which is founded from nothing, it derives from ktistés, properly, one who creates out of nothing (Latin ex nihilo); the Creator. 2 Yes I am a new creation, created out of nothing, by the creator, born again, united with God. My salvation is in Christ, my justification, this salvation must be worked out, my sanctification. The sanctification process: the old things pass away. Here the word for old things is original, primitive, ancient.  Most translations say old things have or has passed away, but note the Greek  pass away,  no have or has. The meaning for ...

The End Result

If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge that person. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. For I did not speak on my own, but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I have spoken. I know that his command leads to eternal life. So whatever I say is just what the Father has told me to say. 1 Jesus said the Father commanded him to speak, and theses commands lead to eternal life. The word for command used in most of the new testament is entolḗ (en, "in," and télos, "reach the end, consummation") – properly, "in the end," focusing on the end-result (objective) of a command . 2  This word highlights the nature of a specific order, charge, its in-context objective. Today the primary definition of command is different, it is to give an authoritative order, to hav...

Bread of Life

Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever, because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you . 1   The words of Jesus produce life everlasting. He was the one sent from the Father to be the bread of life to the people. Why do we read the Bible today? Do you seek life, these words which are living and active? The word of God is the bread of life, it is Jesus sent from the Father to give everlasting life. His words are written down, by humans inspired by God, the words abide forever conveying his principles and precepts. We can read them and eat the bread of life,...

Everlasting Life

I am the bread of life. He who comes to me shall never hunger, and he who believes in me shall never thirst. 1  The five thousand people Jesus fed with five loaves and two fish now sought him. Jesus says to them, labor for food which endures to everlasting life. Labor for everlasting life? The people responded to Jesus , what shall we do, that we may work the works of God ?   Jesus responds, The work of God is that you believe in me. Well how do we believe they ask, what sign, what work, will you do so that we may believe?   This is the sign Jesus says, For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world. Give us this bread they say . Jesus responds, I am this bread. Jesus said coming to him is food of everlasting life. This is what we are to labor, coming to him and being persuaded by and in him, his words are spirit and truth he said. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who is coming to Me I will by no mean...
