Measuring Stick of God

For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise .[ B ] God tests us to see our hearts, to see if we will follow instructions, to see if we truly love him. He tests us by what we do, as what we do reflects our heart. Do we seek His understanding and wisdom? God tried the Israelites in the desert for 40 years to see their genuineness, their heart. They believed God, they saw all his works, and received his goodness. He puts them to the test, He wants to see if they truly love him and will do his will, follow his instructions. Jesus came that we might be redeemed but also He was among us in the flesh as the word of God,  the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature .[ 1 ] God walked and lived out his nature in the flesh. When we walk as He did we are transformed into his nature reflecting his glory...

If You Love Me: Follow My Commandments

These are the commands (decrees, instructions, regulations, rules, words) that God has given to teach you... Listen, He alone is God. You must love God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength, committing yourselves wholeheartedly (passionately) to these instructions that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. and talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, and when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates .[ 1 ] Have you ever been punished for something you did not know was wrong? If so, you understand the importance of proper commandments or instructions. A  commandment is defined as an important rule given by God that tells people how to behave, it's synonyms or words that have the same meaning are instruction, order, rules, saying, and word. God gives us instruc...

Taste And See: That God Is Good

Oh, taste and see that God is good! Blessed is the man who trusts, takes refuge in him![ 1 ] God's goodness is abundant, he has stored it up and gives it to those who trust and take refuge in him, he works it toward us so that others will see his goodness. [ 2 ] Surely as his adopted children, his goodness and mercy follows us all the days of our lives and because of his goodness we will dwell in his house forever.[ 3 ] Every living thing looks to God, He satisfies their desires, he is mindful of every sparrow who looks to him for food.[ 4 ] How much more is he mindful of man, to those that seek him he is near, to those that cry out to him he saves, all that call on his name, he fulfills their desires, because he is righteous and good in all his ways.[ 5 ]  All things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.[ 6 ] His goodness shall be looked upon on earth as in heaven.[ 7 ] In fact every good gift is from heaven, " coming down from the...

The Harvest Is Plenty, The Workers Few

Perceiving the multitude about him,  that they had fainted having been tossed about as if sheep without a shepherd,  Jesus is moved with compassion for them. He then says to his disciples, indeed the harvest is plenty, the workers few, be beseeching the Lord of the harvest so that he should be sending workers into his harvest. [ 1 ] Jesus perceiving the multitude about him had been  tossed (rhiptó also means thrown off, cast about)  beseeches (passionately asks, begs) the disciples to ask the Lord  ( kurios  is lord, master, sir, here the owner of the harvest) to send (ekballo also means to throw, eject, cast, bring forth, produce) workers into the harvest.[ 2 ] Jesus's passionate plea is for the Father to eject, cast, throw workers into the harvest, stating the harvest is plentiful and the workers few. Jesus as He  went  (lead, carried, walked about), in the cities and towns, was  teaching (instruct, cause to learn, impart knowl...

Leaving First Love

Years ago a child was born, no one bothered to cut her navel cord, nor cleanse the blood and wrap her in swaddling cloths. No eye pitied her, to do any of these things for her, to have compassion on her, but she was thrown out into an open field to die. The child was loathed on the day she was born! But someone passed by and seeing her lying in filth said, Live! Spreading their wing over the child and covering it's nakedness, washing, clothing, and nurturing the child. The father swore an oath to the child and entered into a covenant with her and she became his, an adopted child. The father adorned the girl in jewelry of silver and fine clothes of costly fabric and embroidered cloth. She became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. Her fame spread among the people on account of her beauty and her beauty was made perfect by the splendor the father had given her. But she trusted in her beauty and used her fame so that others would love her and not the father. She lavished her f...
