Honorable is the word I have chosen to use because of it's root word and that it relates to who God is in regards to keeping his word; he is honorable in his promises. Honor is defined as one's word given as a guarantee of performance. *  This understanding is important as we look closer as this verse, and define the word for effective promise  (ἐπάγγελμα (epangelma, which has the -ma suffix which focuses on the result, thus my defining it as "effective" promises). (1 Peter 1:4-5) Earlier Peter writes through God's great mercy we were begotten into a living hope (1 Peter 1:3). Paul writes similar text, that when we were dead in our trespasses and sin God was rich in mercy, through his great love, made us alive and raised and seated us in the heavenlies with Christ (Ephesians 2:4-6). Through our new birth of the Spirit, we are begotten into a living hope. *  For in this hope we are saved, and we await the fullness or completion of our salvation. *  And we have an imperishable inheritance guarded through faith in the power of God. the ones in the power of God guarded through faith to the extent of salvation to be revealed in the last time.
