Conformed Together: The Measurement Is Christ Scripture does not present conformation as something inherently negative. In fact, one of the clearest statements of God's eternal purpose is that those whom He foreknew He predestined “to be conformed to the image of his Son” (Romans 8:29). At the same time, the same apostle commands believers, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (Romans 12:2). These statements are not contradictory, nor does Paul use the language of conformation in exactly the same sense in both passages. The problem, therefore, is not conformation itself.
