Godly Fear Over Sin

work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God that effects you also to will and effect on behalf of His good pleasure .(Philippians 2:12-13) The word for work out is κατεργάζομαι (katergazomai) "to produce, accomplish, bring about, do." The word effect means to execute; to bring into action. This speaks of being at a place of maturity where the truth is in practice or where one has been transformed, renewed in mind, to accept the will of God as good, pleasing, and perfect. In regards to this maturity, there is a place where we work out our salvation in fear and trembling, a place of godly fear over sin and my need to glorify God in my body. who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and render pure for himself a chosen people zealous of good works.(Titus 2:14) As His children, we are to be imitators of God, pure, just as Christ gave himself for us an acceptable offering and sacrifice we are to walk in love, and not in sexual immorality, impurit...

Dominion In Christ

so that  according to the riches of His glory he grants you to have dominion (krataioō), powerful ability (dynamis) through his Spirit to the extent of your inner being ,(Ephesians 3:14-20) The word dominion κραταιόω (krataioō) has as a root word κράτος (kratos) which is also translated as might. The word dominion is often translated as power and strength, but the word strength is ἰσχύς , (ischus) and anything with (dýna) is associated with power, for example, δύναμις (dynamis) and δύναμαι (dynamai) (obviously it is just not power, but I don't understand Greek enough to know the difference between -mis and -mai) but these are usually translated as ability, able; a manifestation of God's power; and there is  ἐνδυναμόω (endynamoō) which means to be empowered. We have English words like dynamic which means a powerful personality and dynamite meaning power in a little thing. I believe what Paul is praying is that God gives or grants us dominion or might, powerful abili...

Powerfully Able To Do

Now he is powerfully able to do abundantly above all which we ask or imagine, according to the power that is working in us ,-Ephesians 3:20 God is working out all good according to his purpose through his power. Paul directs his prays toward the church at Ephesus so that they would experience/know of God's power " so that  according to the riches of His glory he grants you to acquire strength, powerful ability through his Spirit in your inner being, Christ dwelling in your hearts through faith, rooted and grounded in love,  so that  you are fully strong to lay hold of, with all the saints, what is the width, length, and height, and depth and know the love of Christ surpassing knowledge  so that  filled to the extent of all the fullness of God.-Ephesians 3:14-20 The word " so that " is a marker that shows purpose or result. Paul writes long sentences to make sure he covers everything, so to paraphrase, we need to have the God's strength to lay hold...

The Fullness In Christ

And he placed all things under his feet and gave him as head over all the Church, which exists his body, the  fullness  of the one filling all in all .-Ephesians 1:20-23 What does it mean the Church is his body, the fullness of the one filling all in all? Looking at the purpose of the Church as a filling into the fullness of Christ gives meaning and purpose to the Church as his body. What is this fullness? does it speak of the glory of God; Christ in us? * We should glorify Christ in our bodies, which speaks of our reasonable service to him, unto holiness as being the sacrifice acceptable to him. Is this not a reason why Christ came? to free us from sin? This fullness also speaks of the purpose Paul tells us about, that He chose us in Him to be holy, in His presence, in love.-Ephesians 1:4 There is much more to this fullness, which speaks of fully knowing as we are known in Christ.-1 Corinthians 13:12 And of knowing him, of power, faith, hope, and love in Christ. God had a pu...

Casting Your Cares Upon Jesus

humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt you in season, casting all your cares to the extent of him because he cares for you .-1 Peter 5:6-7 The word casting is ἐπιρρίπτω (epiriptó from epi "on, upon" and rhiptó "to throw, cast, to throw off, toss") One way we can look at this is we must put off the old garments and put on the new. Cares, anxieties, worries, fear is not part of the new man. Another way we can look at this is we must know God cares for us, thus if we know his providence then we would trust in him to care for us. Certainly, it is a fight of faith against unbelief. To be anxious about the cares of this world is unbelief and anything not of faith is a sin. Jesus says if we have faith we would not worry, be anxious, nor be afraid. But we all are anxious and afraid at times so lovingly He tells us to cast our cares upon him.  humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God so that he may exalt you in season.. . There is a con...

Glorifying God In My Body

My Father is glorified in this; that you bear much fruit and become my disciples ...John 15:8-11 Bearing fruit is the purpose of the word of God being sown and falling on good soil, as Jesus said, it produces fruit, like as hundredfold, sixty, thirty. *  Jesus also said if we abide in the Vine we will bear fruit, apart from him we can do nothing. He also said not everyone who claims to know him and who says he is Lord and does powerful works in his name will enter the kingdom of heaven. Good works in and of themselves are not the fruit that glorifies God, " my Father is glorified in this; that you bear much fruit and become my disciples ..." * that you bear much fruit and become my disciples..." * There are two types of disciples of Jesus, the difference between the two is one bears fruit. There are the chosen in Christ, " you did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed to go and bear fruit and that your fruit remains so that my Father gives you whatever you ...

God Knows and He Cares

Look attentively at the birds of the air, they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns and your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not more valuable than they ?(Matthew 6:26) Does God care for the birds? God asks Job in his time of afflictiion this, "who provides food for the raven when its young cry out for help and wander for lack of food?" *  Do I not care for you Job? God cares, " He gives food to the wild animals and feeds the young ravens when they cry ." *  In fact, " all creatures look to You to give them their food in due season. " *  Look attentively at the birds, you will learn something about God. Even if they die, God knows, Jesus said, not a single sparrow falls to the ground without God knowing it. *  Not one bird is forgotten by God. *  God knows the plight of every animal. Are you not much more valuable to God? Even the hairs of your head are known by God (this is how attentive God is toward you) so do not be afraid you are wort...

Love Drives Out Fear

Exists no fear in love, rather perfect love drives out fear because fear has torment. Now, the one who fears is not fulfilled in agape love . * Think of what torments a person. Webster dictionary defines torment as to cause severe usually persistent or recurrent distress of body or mind. Worry is defined as to torment oneself with or suffer from disturbing thoughts. *  It also defines worry as strangle, choke? In the parable of weeds, Jesus tells us the devil plants weeds to choke us out.   Fear, worry, anxiety, the devil uses to torment. Agape love drives out this fear and torment so that the goal of Perfect Love is accomplished, Fulfilled , which means to finish, bring to an end, complete, perfect. Paul writes agape love is above all the other virtues (kindness, humility, compassion, gentleness, patience) because love leads to  perfectness  (completeness, maturity, ripeness of knowledge or practice). * Paul also writes we should set our heart...

No More Ungodly Fear

and being fearful I went and hid your talent in the ground, behold, you have what is yours !" * The Master gave talents to three men, two earned more talents but this man did not. The parable says the master gave according to their ability, so the man with one talent had the ability. What ability did he have? How did the other two men earn more talents in such a day? It mentions the master was gone for a long time so possibly, they bought seed, planted vineyards, and reaped a harvest. The ability of the man with one talent to do so is known in his excuse, he said he knew the master was a stern hard, unscrupulous man, "reaping where you have not sown and gathered where you have scattered no seed." *  It would seem he knew how to farm and it wasn't laziness as the master said if he had put the money in the bank to earn interest this would have been ok. His motivation to do nothing was fear, "being fearful I went and hid your talent in the ground." * Hi...
