Finding Life

If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross, according to the day, and follow me. * We see what it means to take up our cross, it is to deny our self. Is this concept important for Christian life? Yes, "whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it." *  We must lose our life, to be worthy of following Jesus. But what life do we lose? This is where we lose our old self if we hang on to it we are deceived, "the thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly." *   We must lose our old life to find true life in Christ. No one Jesus said who does this will be ashamed of ever doing it, no matter the cost, and will have abundant life. Jesus said if brotherly love and family love is greater than loving him we are not worthy to follow him. *  Unbelieving...

Choosing the Good Part

now, one thing is necessary, Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her . * Jesus has entered a certain village and a woman named Martha had welcomed him into her home. Martha had called her sister Mary who was sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to his words but Martha became distracted by "much serving." The scripture says she got so upset she came into the room saying "Lord do you not care that my sister left me to do all the serving." Jesus said "Martha, Martha you are anxious and troubled about many things, now, Martha has chosen the good part." Lately, my mind has been anxious and troubled, about many things. The other night as I sat in bed, I had a vivid experience, it was like I too was there, sitting at the feet of Jesus experiencing the good part. The word part also means a share, a portion. *  Martha had hosted Jesus in her home and was busy serving Him but it was Mary who was experiencing the good portion, be...

God Loves His Children

for the Lord disciplines whom he loves, and he chastens everyone whom he accepts as his son.” Endure, endure as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father ? * Where you disciplined by an earthly father? Many children grow up without knowing discipline, without reverence for an earthly father. We relate to our heavenly Father as we relate to our earthly and without an earthly example, it is much more difficult to submit. If we learned submission to an earthly father and reverenced them who disciplines us for what they might seem to be best, how much more will we live, experience life when we submit to the Father of spirits? Our heavenly Father loves us and disciplines us for our benefit, so that we share in his holy character. for they disciplined for a short time as seemed best to them but He for our benefit, so that we share of his holy character. * What would it mean if I were without discipline? It would mean eithe...

Greater Is He In You

Little children, you exist from God and overcome together because the one in you is greater than the one in the world. * Dear children of God this promise is for you, always remember this, greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. God has blessed his children, choosing us in Him before the creation of the world to exist holy before him in his presence in love. *   When we believed in him we were sealed with the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of such an inheritance as His own children. Blessed with all spiritual blessings in the heavenlies in Christ, we were adopted as children, given a Spirit of adoption. The Spirit of God and Christ is in us, greater is He that is in you. And because you exist, sons, God has dispatched on a service the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out Abba Father! * The Spirit is called the Spirit of his Son, of Christ. Paul prays that we grow strong in power through His Spirit, that in our inner being Christ is dwelling in our h...

In God I Trust

Be gracious to me, O God, for man  tramples on me;      all day long an attacker oppresses me; 2  my enemies trample on me all day long,      for many attack me proudly. When I am afraid,      I  put my trust in you. 4  In God, whose word I praise,      in God I trust;  I shall not be afraid.      What can flesh do to me? ... 8  You have kept count of my tossings;      put my tears in your bottle.      Are they not in your book? 9  Then my enemies will turn back      in the day when I call.      This I know, that  God is for me. 10  In God, whose word I praise,      in the  Lord , whose word I praise, 11  in God I trust;  I shall not be afraid.      What can man do to me? 12  I mu...
