Walking In Light

"Whoever says he is in the light and hates his brother is still in darkness." 1 Truth, what is truth the Roman Pilate proclaimed. This person claims to have authority of God, and so does this person, this person claims to know the truth, and so does that person, this person interprets scripture this way, and that person another way... and what is the truth the world ask and so does the Church. Let us seek truth, not traditions and philosophy of men, but that which gives Liberty, and let us walk in that light.  " I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me ." 2 A bold statement, Jesus claimed, he is the Truth. As John writes Jesus came in the fullness of the Father, of Grace and Truth, he is the Life and Light of men. Those who walk in the fullness of Christ walk in Light and not darkness. Those in darkness comprehend him not. So we can equate truth with walking in the Light, so now the question becomes how do I know I...

Grace In Which We Stand

" Through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand and we boast in hope of the glory of God . " 1 This word for boast means living with "head up high." We have such bold access to the throne of Grace by faith. This is the foundational principle of the new covenant, by grace are we saved, through faith in Jesus Christ. By grace we are saved, it is unmerited favor, a gift from God, not by works of the law, to be received by faith. So we have access into this Grace, by faith, in which we stand. " For if, by one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness receiving, in life will reign through the one man Jesus Christ ." 3 Those who stand in grace will reign, they will have dominion over sin and death, they will have Life. Grace and righteousness is a free gift received by faith in Jesus Christ. Through the act of one man's trespass, con...

Consider God

" Yahweh looked down from heaven on the sons of men to see if any consider to seek God ." 1   This Hebrew word for consider is often translated as "who acts wisely, understands, prospers." One of the reasons Eve desired the fruit was because she considered the tree that it would make one wise. We see this close link between wisdom and understanding, such we see in the principle of sowing, those who hear and receive may produce some fruit but it is in understanding that much fruit is produced. Faith comes by hearing, reading, and receiving the words of Christ, only a simple mind like that of a child is needed. To the one who has, more is given, t hese who consider to seek God, these will prosper. " In the day of prosperity be happy, But in the day of adversity consider also the one as well as the other, cause God accomplishes, not to be found man behind anything ." 1 Consider prosperity and adversity . Some teachings today consider only prosp...

Welfare of Others

" Not the things of themselves each considering but also the things of each other. Let this mind be in you, which was in Christ Jesus. .." 1 This word for considering is derived from skopos ; to take aim at; figuratively to regard, consider, take heed, look at (on), mark. We know the definition of sin is said to be "missing the mark," and we know the golden rule of Christianity is to treat others as we would want to be treated, thus considering the things of others is not missing the mark but making the mark of God's righteousness. Considering the Welfare of Others displays the love for God and others thus fulfills God's righteousness. " Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. " 2 Considering the interests of others is a burden, and lifting the burdens of others fulfills the "law of Christ." Such is two part; considering the burdens of others but also considering yourself lest you likewise fall. 5 Li...

Brotherly Love

"Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good. With brotherly love be devoted to one another, in honor esteeming one another. " 1 These verses in context speak of a transformed Church, one with a renewed mind, a mind like that of Christ. And as Paul writes who can judge such a person? with such a mind? thus such is a spiritual person, and is there any laws against such fruit of the Spirit? Of course not, if we have such a mind we are like Christ, our love for God is best seen in brotherly love.  " Love must be sincere. Detest what is evil; cling to what is good ..." 2 Insincere love is hypocritical, this word for sincere nypókritos (derived from A "not" and hypokrínomai , "to act as a hypocrite") – properly, not a phony. There is no greater betrayal than insincere love; someone you thought loved you only to find out they had other motives. The world loves you based upon your worldly goods, if you are wealthy and su...

Love Bears All Things

" Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things ." 1   I was put in a boys home in my early teens, my father had abandoned his family long before, but he did not know how to be a father, not having one. When I was eighteen I wanted to go to college but I needed help and I had no one to help me, my family was suppose to be there for such. To get help I had to declare independence from my family and to do so I had to prove I had worked full time for a year. So I set off to work and save. One night I was in pain and had to go to the hospital. The doctor said I needed an appendectomy, a nurse said I should get a second opinion. I was in pain and on drugs, hardly in a state to decide, I had no father to stand for me, no family to help in my time of need. I found out a few months later the nurse was right, as I had the same pain, the diagnosis then was a kidney stone. I had no insurance the first time to cover the appendectomy which r...

Standing In Christ

" Through whom we have also have access by faith into the Grace, this in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God . " 1 This word for stand has many occurrences in the new testament, "stand firm, stand, establish, fixed..." it is from histémi, "I make to stand" it has its root meaning of " I put, place, lay, set, fix, establish." We have access into this Grace in which we stand for the purpose of being established in Christ. " But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved ." 3 We are saved by Grace, Paul writes. " For the grace of God that bringeth salvation has appeared to all men , " 4 The price was paid through the works of Christ, so  "justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." 4 Through faith in Jesus we have a...

Standing in Grace

" Through whom we have also have access by faith into the Grace, this in which we stand, and we boast in hope of the glory of God . " 1 This word for stand has many occurrences in the new testament, "stand firm, stand, establish, fixed..." it is from histémi, "I make to stand" it has its root meaning of " I put, place, lay, set, fix, establish." We have access into this Grace in which we stand for the purpose of being established or so that we learn to stand. Grace is a fundamental principle of the new covenant but why is it often attacked, and what is at the root of such attacks? "And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand? " 2 Those against the teachings of grace fundamentally argue that teaching grace is to teach a license to sin. But such logic is against the Kingdom of God, Paul writes we stand in Grace to have dominion over sin, "Indeed, sin you will not have dominion over, indee...
